I recently just got a korg triton extreme 88 keys and I am looking for a good combi with organ and piano. Any suggestions for a good organ to use or setting?

Julio,

Take a little time to work with the extreme and learn the basics of writing combis and you'll be able to set up exactly what you want.

In the meantime, look for any piano or organ combi that uses two layers (i.e., two organ sounds within the combi) and try substituting the piano sound you want to hear for one of the existing sounds in the combination - there are easily more than 100 acoustic and electric pianos to choose from on the extreme and what fits your style is going to be a matter of taste.

PS: Save that to an empty slot [INIT] or you'll be overwriting something you may want to use later.

Thanks for the help BB. I have learned how to do combinations and have various organ and pianos sounds but I haven't been able to find a good setting for or organ program to work with the reggae sound I am looking for. I also have not seen to be able to work the vibrato when I do find an organ I like. Thank you for your response. I suppose I just can't explain myself as clearly over typing. I will use your advice and continue to familiarize with the triton.

"Vibrato" -- sure you don't mean the rotating speaker effect (aka, Leslie)?

You activate that by pushing away from you with the joystick (JS+Y). Most of the pre-set organ programs will have this feature, try some of the ones with "gospel", "drawbar" or "B3" in the name.

You'll want to work on understanding IFX especially routing because if you use an organ program as your starting point then you'll want something different for the piano you layer in and you'll also need to change the routing because the leslie effect (eg.) will still be on the organ track that you put your piano into.

Drawbar. No, not really, at least not for real time control.

Drawbars are essentially additive (cumulative) controls for harmonics in ascending octaves.

You've got 8 tracks or elements within a combi so you could conceivably make a drawbar emulation using organ samples tuned to the various octaves and notes -- 16, 8, 4, 2, etc.

Details can be found at http://www.electricdruid.net/?page=info.hammond.

By adjusting the relative volume of each channel you could get various sounds similar to drawbar settings.

You'll get the best results from something simple, close to sine wave - in fact if you do this you might try keeping the drawbar structure but varying the samples used to include synth as well as organ waves.
