Kaossilator Pro, sampling and midi sync live

Hello,
Firstly, apologies - I've read plenty of threads about midi sync issues, and I've checked the KOPro manual, but I'm still confused.
I do live electronic stuff (no computer), and I'm looking for something which will allow me to sample e.g. a bass or electric guitar and loop it, in time with a midi sequencer (but not triggered by the sequencer) throughout a song. I don't need to change tempos within each song, only between them.
I understand that the KOPro's midi sync sets BPM; and that I can predefine the length of the sample I want to record. But various threads suggest the KOPro will still drift.
Is this true, and if so - why?
I understand that it may be impossible to e.g. start playing the loop in perfect time with the start of each bar. But if the BPM of the sequencer and the KOPro is the same, and the KOPro is playing back a loop of a defined length (e.g. 1 bar at 100bpm), surely the KOPro and sequencer will maintain their positions relative to each other?
Any advice much appreciated - I'm asking because I've found a KOPro for cheap and need to know whether to snap it up.
Many thanks,
lachma
