Question on Tone-Adjust in Program Mode

Post by Corgy »

Hi guys, may be somebody can give me a hint ...

I like twisting buttons and moving sliders much more, than working on a graphical interface. So I started to experiment a little with the Tone-Adjust capability of the Kronos, which is a pretty handy feature.

1) to assign the knobs and sliders works fine, that is Program/Play/Control Surface/Tone Adj.
2) changing the Amp EG paramters changes the sound, but watching on e.g. EXi/Amp/Amp EG on-screen, there is no numerical or graphical update of what I do with the sliders.
3) after saving the program the EXi screen is updated

Now my question. Is there an option to have the numerical and graphical update on the EXi EG-screens in real-time?

Thanks for any advice :)

Some relevant info from the Parameter Guide:

Absolute, Relative, and Meta parameters
There are three kinds of Tone Adjust parameters: Absolute, Relative, and Meta.

Relative parameters typically adjust two or more Program parameters simultaneously. For instance, Filter/Amp EG Attack Time affects a total of six Program parameters. The value of the Relative parameter shows the amount of change to these underlying Program parameters.

Saving Tone Adjust Edits
Tone Adjust edits are saved in two different ways, depending on whether the parameter is Relative or Absolute.
Edits to Relative parameters affect the sound immediately, but don’t change the underlying Program parameter settings until the Program is saved. When the Program is saved, the KRONOS calculates the combined effects of Tone Adjust and dedicated CC modulation (from the Real Time Knobs, for instance), and saves the results into the Program parameters directly. At that point, all of the Relative parameters are reset to 0.

Thanks Dan,

I appreciate your explanation. Didn't know there was something like relative and absolute - well didn't dig too deep into the literature ;). Was happy that the buttons and sliders did change the audio as expected, but expected also that I could watch the changes in real-time on screen.

So is my assumption correct that - at the moment - there is no real-time on-screen updating feature for relative parameters?

No problem if so - just to know. Dialing in the paramters by knobs and sliders is more about listening to the audio than watching the screen and a save from time to time doesn't hurt.
