try the Fantom X7 if you want a good second board
I traded my Oasys 76 for a Kronos 61 but kept my Fantom X7 as the second board, because it is light, loads samples easy, keeps lyrics and reminders on screen, has some decent sounds, a computer editor, and the keys are a neutral synth type with aftertouch but not budget ones
I have since got a Jupiter 80 but I don't gig with it as much, because the Fantom has more of the gig stuff I need and a computer editor.
I realise this is a Korg forum but as a second gig board Ive found the Fantom X7 a great second board

That's funny because I have an Integra-7 and a Fantom XR in my live rack and I tend to use the Fantom sounds more than the Integra ones.kyoland wrote: I have since got a Jupiter 80 but I don't gig with it as much, because the Fantom has more of the gig stuff I need and a computer editor.
I suppose I'm more used to the Fantom sound.

My local music store has the King Korg on sale for $1,000 with a no interest payment plan over a six month period. They like me at that store so I can probably get it with a minimum down payment.
I know that I said it feels like a toy and I don't like the wall wart power supply but at that price it's hard to resist. My wife has hinted that it should be my birthday and Christmas present!
At least it sounds amazing!

Go for it, its a liberating feeling to actually have real time knobs to play with live. No more menu diving for simple adjustments.jeremykeys wrote:My local music store has the King Korg on sale for $1,000 with a no interest payment plan over a six month period. I'm going to go for the brand new one. Probably this Wednesday or Thursday. I'm okay with the price and I have played around with one in the store before. I just have to call them tomorrow to make sure that they will have one on stock. It is an advertised sale but that doesn't mean I won't have to wait. I had to wait over 3 months to get my Kronos but that was when they first came out and there was that tsunami in Japan.

I've got it now! You're absolutely right, too. I for got how much fun it is ti actually tweak knobs whil;e playing. I do do that a bit with my Kronos but for some reason this synth just begs you to play with the controls. I haven't gotten very far with it but I do come from the old school analogue domain so I figure I'm going to have a ton of fun with it. I don't think I'd want to use it live as a main board but who knows. It all depends on the gig. I do have a duo gig coming up in July so I just might go with it. I used to use one of my Roland U-20's for years until I got my Kronos and since this is an outdoors gig far from home, I might give it a shot.
