My Mum was so impressed with the Dutch that she is supporting them rather than England now.

She does have a soft spot for Robben though, so it may be that!

Any predictions for the Germany/Portugal game?

I'm going for 2:1 to Portugal.

3:2 for Germany, coming back after a 2:0 lead by Portugal ;)

2-1 for Portugal on my side too, Ronaldo's playing, so we can expect a masterclass from him, if he's fully fit.

I only just read the Portuguese have Ronaldo and the Germans DON'T have Klose. Let's say 2-2, I'm still hopeful ;)

In about 45 minutes IRAN (my country of Origin ) v.s. Nigeria....Iran is the weakest team of the group pretty much. I was expecting an embarrassing 4 to 6 goals per game in the group, but now with big names like Spain and Portugal getting demolished , that won't seem very embarrassing after all!

Not a bad result for Iran, they have a pretty solid defence.

oh, that's the best result for them, but the whole game just wasn't up to par. It felt more like a friendly local match at best. Iran has good players who play in top European leagues, but the only time they come together as a team is for National games. Not a very functional team in that respect...

Did I tell you Germany is able to score without a classical striker? :-)

Considering the fact that up until recently Soccer was considered high school girls sport in the US, they've made a HUGE progress. It's still not as popular as American football, but still I can't believe how good they got in such a short period of time.

The US development is mostly a success of Juergen Klinsmann. We know him very well, and US citizens should be glad to have him as coach. He was absolutely right to leave a certain player at home, and take a young player with him, who just scored his fírst world championship goal against Ghana.

Here in Germany we laugh our socks off about this clueless little US talkshow/latenight wannabe, who tried to ridicule Klinsmann, while in fact he made a complete monkey of himself. He thought it was un-American that Klinsmann wasn't sure to win the world championship right away, while in fact it just was un-idiotic to keep a sound view at both the chances and the limits of the US team in it's present good development.

This US trash talker should just hide in a mousehole now, for talking about something he obviously doesn't have the slightest idea of. :-)

Can't believe how un-selfish the Germans were. They could have scored 8 or 9!
