Well, England are done. Thats what happens when you leave your fate to others. That said, Costa Rica!

omg what a great bunch, they don't give a damn about reputations, they just love beating the odds. Fantastic spirit! Thoroughly deserved win. England should get off their high horse and learn a thing or two from them.

Sorry for the British fans from Germany!

I always liked and respected British football and it's direct fighting spirit and straightforward way, as they showed it in good times. And the team played better this time than their result may show. They were still missing some creativity to convert to goals, but showed promising new players and good work by Roy Hodgson (hope you don't send him to oblivion).

Italy definitely did not deserve to win against England and were rather lucky, looking at their play and fouls!

Wow, finding some extremely "creative" England-related jokes on the web already.
The politest of them are:

Q. What is the difference b/w a tea bag and the England Football Team?
A. The tea bag stays longer in a cup.

We're a laughing stock now, oh God why!
I do hope they don't sack Hodgson though, he's doing a good job, just needs to tighten things at the back.

What do you call an Englishman in the knockout stages at the world cup?

A referee!

(For the record I was supporting England in case anyone makes any Scottish comments!)

Did anyone watch the Italy-Uruguay game?

What a disgrace Suarez is. He should be banned from this World Cup (and the next if it were up to me).
Also the red card wasn't justified.

Agree or disagree?

He was probably a bit peckish. They need to wire his jaw up before letting him play.

Ridiculous how he didn't even get a reprimand. I don't think referees at this level play favorites but Uruguay definitely got the best of his calls. Not too sad to see Italy go though.

Yeah...more like Hannibal Lecter! Some of these guys do real weird stuff. Did you guys catch the one who headbutted his own teammate last week? Can't remember which team it was. Lucky for him, it went unnoticed, otherwise it could've been a red card right there.

The red card was proper. The Italian player struck the opponent with cleats showing. It was a dangerous play that could have seriously injured the player. Suarez, on the other hand, did make a quick downward movement with his head to the opponent's shoulder. Easy to miss the play by the refs. Hard to say if it was intentional or not. It looked "odd" though. It looked much more ominious in slow motion than it did in "normal" speed.

He shoulder butted my teeth your honour!

It was pretty telling at the end of the game, all the Uruguayan players were celebrating apart from a very glum Suarez. He knew what he had done.

Unfortunately, his prior deeds betray him. He is damned. Maybe a new line of work for him. Say, on the "food channel". LOL

Fair performance by the US just now. They play a mean counter and were heading for a goal a few times. The Germans were very... Average, tonight.
Congrats to both for reaching the last 16!

Would someone explain how a team still moves forward even after a loss? Is it points based? Or based on a team losing they had already beaten? Thanks!
