I would just like to say that even if we didn't play perfectly, WE SLAUGHTERED THE SPANISH TEAM! I would rather have won the same game 4 years ago, but as revenge it's pretty good.

Congratulations for the Dutch - they were brilliant. That header was magnificent.

Was going to see this with the wife and neighbors (all Spanish) - Glad we decided to stay at home.

Still think that Spain will get to knock-outs - so they'll have to beat Brazil??

I am hoping that England play the (ex) Southampton players and they use the young players.... trouble its on a bit late

BUT being a Manchester United fanatic, I'm absolutely buzzing for next season!

I really don't think Spain can beat Brazil, unless they make a few changes. Germany favourites, IMHO, but I'm rooting for the Dutch.

The Germans have trouble in front, Klose is the only big name attacker they have and he isn't as good as he was earlier in his career. But at the same, one should never underestimate the Germans. The Dutch have learned this the hard way.

I was positively surprised by our performance (as was everyone else). The opinion over here is that there were also plenty of faults and to keep our heads together and focus on the next match. Still, it was a really nice experience to beat especially Spain this way so I feel some euphoria, in moderation, is justified

Oh absolutely, to beat Spain's so-called Golden Generation, with such a young team, well, it'll do wonders to their confidence!
And with Arjen Robben's terrifying pace, I think the Dutch are without doubt the dark horses to win this year's WC.

Look out for Belgium as well, they've got some terrific youngsters too!

I'm sorry for you guys. I thought both teams played quite well. Still not a fan of the Italian style.

Congratulations to the Dutch team from Germany!

Unlike many others, I never liked the Spanish 'ball posession tiki-taka ballet' at all, and have hoped since years that they finally get a heavy blow into that kind of concept. So my evening was marvellous )

Sorry for the British team: I liked their play more than that of Italy, who were doing what they always do, in a slightly more modern form: defend well and launch sudden tempo changes and counters. It's not the most exciting form of football for my taste, but it's always been very effective, especially against Germany. %-}

As for Germany, the injury of Marco Reuss and others prevents us to send the best possible team, but we still have some guys who can play football on quite a convincing level. The concept with only one classical striker is no real problem, since we have half a dozen guys who are both great midfield players and excellent scorers. But as always, 'the proof is in the pudding', and the first game against Portugal will give a first hint, how we get into the championship. Traditionally, Germans are slow starters getting better steadily during a tournament.

I didn't! I know better than to trust England by now LOL

I do hope England qualify though, and I don't think England fans should slag off Rooney, the man was played out of position, and still managed to get an assist.

my money is on one of the teams from South America taking the cup at this tournament. Brazil may come around and Argentina looks pretty good. FWIW

Tika taki, is what happens when you take the dutch total football over the top... Defensively its awesome as it intends to regain the ball as fast as possible...

Whne Rijkaard Cruijf and Van Gaal where at Barcelona it was introduced.. And now van Gaal proofed that for every tactic there is a countermeasure..

Sadly looking back at the match holland -spain everyone in Holland seems to have forgotten about the first 40 minutes when the dutch where struggling, but after van Persies flying show, the whole team played like they where caried by wings... The secret however was in the physical condition of the dutch, as van Gaal promissed that payed off in the 2nd half...

Sadly the dutch only prepared for Spain... Winning this match and taking revenge was all they wanted after 2010, and they got it, but can we keep up the level of the 2nd half for the rest of the season? Probably not, butnoboddy can take away our revenge..
