Yup. Why I'm trying to change my setup so all organs are played on the controller!ronnfigg wrote:Has anyone ever tried to do a palm glissando on an 88 when playing organ patch? I have. And still have the blood stains on the keyboard to prove it!

Ha - I used to do it in a band a few years ago - hurt like hell and actually almost knocked my kronos over off it's Ultimate Apex stand one time at a gig.ronnfigg wrote:Has anyone ever tried to do a palm glissando on an 88 when playing organ patch? Nowadays, my 2nd live board (a V-Synth) is mostly just a 2nd controller for the Kronos for this exact reason. I have about a dozen really "Roland-ish" (think Jupiter/Juno) sounds that I use from it that I've never been able to get using the Kronos VA engines, but everything else is coming from the Kronos.

Ha ha ha!! THIS I cannot argue with... part of the reason my RD-700 has been replaced with the Kronos... much more flexible and easier to play for the stuff we do. And...Well... it's lighter... and I'm getting older!ronnfigg wrote:Has anyone ever tried to do a palm glissando on an 88 when playing organ patch? I have. At a local music store I actually aske Jordan Rudess how he gets away doing palm smear on a weighted keyboard and he said he doesn't! He beats his hands up everytime he does one.
I do thme all the time on my K73 but I have hurt my hand a few times.
As for having a second K61, I'd do it in a flash if I could afford it.
As for programming tips, just go to the sticky at the top of the Kronos Forum list, scroll down and you will find a link to QuiRobinez programming tutorial videos. Carefully watch these and in no time at alll you too will be a programming genius!

Hi Darryll,Darryll wrote: Finally, how do I go about deciding which engine to use and how to program that engine to get sounds like the following? Theoretically, the Kronos should 'easily' be able to replicate sounds like the following:
Korg R3 (bass solo starting at 4:50)

Yamaha EX5 (sound starting at 1:47)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-HCyA-fDss
Where do I start in getting sounds like this from the Kronos? Please advise.
The Kronos has already a useable bass sound like the one you gave as an example i.e the I-A074 (Phunky Power Bass).
Check it out !
Cheers

As good as the AL-1 is i don't have the hands on controllers i need to sculpt the sound as i go. In other words, great for creating insane sounds, but stupid live. I have a Kronos X 88 at the bottom and supply it with a Nord Lead 1 on top. They sure make beautiful babies, and the Nord is a fair substitute for organ parts as well. I personally think two Kronos'es is a major overkill - unless you are doing shows that have very specific needs and a single Kronos plus an extra midi board can't handle the load - and you need the Kronos sounds.
