I have already explained that in 1st page of this topic !
Briefly , I always use one SSD of 240 Mb in secondary SATA port of mobo , and I have made an external SSD port of primary
SATA , in case of system failure in gigs to connect a cloned SSD there , I always carry with me and boot in 2 minutes !

Therefore if you have a Linux expert ... you have nothing to loose ... :)

Thanks again Antony. I'm sorry I didn't read the first part of the thread before asking.

Hi everybody,

Finally I have time to install my new SSD into the kronos.
Today I'm going to grab a new sata cable and open the kronos.
I have a 73keys version, should I pay any particular attention when I open it?

Thanks a lot:)

Installing ssd itself is rather easy.
For me, dealing with keybed was a challenge. Even though it does not need to be removed, but unscrewing bottom cover makes it loose enough to move around a bit. It took me few iterations to align it. Maybe there is a trick to putting it back nicely easily so it's nicely aligned..
I read somewhere to use the protective pieces of cardboard there were there when you bought it, but they really fall out as the keyboard is upside down and keybed moves around..
I need to open it again to put ram, so interested in tips

Just a few things about delving into a Kronos 73.
Pay attention to how it's supported and be aware of the joysticks.
Apply the usual antistatic precautions.
The memory module and ssd installation have been well documented elsewhere on the forum and provide good guides.

Replacing the bottom board is straightforward and aligning the keyframe should not present any problems.
Start with the outer thinner screws, then place the cardboard spacers between the keys and the front bar which will aid the larger screw location into the keyframe.
(The keyframe will hold them in place if gently pulled toward the front bar.....).

Then insert the larger screws,loosely.
Tighten the outer ones to a light torque (just enough to "nip" etc),followed by the other larger ones.
Check that the front gap and adjust to suit, slackening off the larger screws if necessary.
A final tightening of all screws to their correct torque.

There is a sequence to screw tightening, together with specified torque settings, but with careful application all should be well without these.

The cardboard spacers are not critical regarding their thickness…..as long as a front gap is maintained following the board refitting and all the keys have free movement without fouling etc.
Also, the gap itself can be variable, to a degree, including a slight difference between each end….
for example - if using the spacers, one may be a tighter fit compared to the other, but it doesn't matter, within reason.

Hope this helps......Good Luck.

Best Wishes.
