Yes, exactly.

I just use the Focusrite as kind of submixer for keyboards in this case: my Kronos main outs are routed through it, just like my other hardware synths (for recording into Cubase on the Notebook). From there they go into a mixer with addional inputs for my Roland EDrum-Set, EBass and EGuitar (for band practising sessions).

I would prefer to have everything go through the USB soundcard, and from there directly to the notebook and to the active monitors, ready for recording. But so far I haven't found a payable USB Interface with 16 line inputs (including at least two mic/line inputs) in Focursrite quality. If you know of any, let me know. My Scarlett 18i6 nominally has 18, but only 6 line and two Mic/Line Inputs, and I don't know how to get additional use from the digital ins (the Kronos doesn't work with them).

If cost is an issue you could just get an ADAT converter by Behringer or some other budget brand? Or even a second hand ADAT machine. They're huge but the later ones were 24 bit and sound pretty good. If you clock it from the Focusrite it should sound so bad. I'm assuming at least that the 18i6 has ADAT in, I'm not familiar with the model.

Thanks for clarifying!

Yes, just checked the possibilities: seems the Focusrite Octopre would be an ADAT solution.

OK, back to Cubasis on the iPad. ;-)
