On the CX-3 engine, check out the DRAG ACROSS DRAWBARS feature. It works really well. Now you can have control of both upper and lower drawbars using the touch screen. Drag across bottom to turn off drawbar and across the top to bring to full. Click with you fingertip on the screen for precise drawbar settings.

The same is happening with my Kronos X in both program and setlist modes. The smooth transition works if I advance from one patch to the next (using a foot switch). However, the sound cuts off completely if I advance patches twice (i.e., from patch 1 to 2 then 3). The first change operates as expected but the second change mutes sound every time.

I clocked the boot time for OS 2.1.2 at 2:18 (stopped the stop watch when I heard the Kronos beep). Now with 3.1 my Kronos boot time is 1:40 seconds. I did not change anytime except to update the OS. Nothing is missing that I have noticed but I have to check more thoroughly.

by K is for Kronos
Hi,
So I am excited to update my Kronos to the new OS, but need a little guidance before I start. I have only updated my OS once before after only having a short time. When I did the update I did not have custom programs or Combis saved, nor did have the additional samples that I have since loaded (Thanks Busch). Will these be wiped upon updating to the new OS. If so, what is the most efficient way to back them up and load them where they need to be?

Also, I had moved one of the internal banks to another location so that I could demo the Epic Piano EX. When I loaded the demo i did not see how to send this to an open bank. My question is related to how moving a factory bank may have impacted a factory combi? Should return the internal bank to the factory settings? I had read somewhere that the A and B internal banks would be different in the update and wondered if this would mess up the factory Combis that used IA and IB?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Bill

That's because SST only works with a single advance. I'm having problems with sounds cutting off when I advance 1 combi - that should work.

Yes, that's the design, though I wish it would not cut the sound if no notes were played after first change (e.g. accidental program/combi selection).
Nothing major, but that might be an easy software fix ..

worried to see there are problems with SST even with single advance ..

Thanks for the response. Never noticed the "single advance" limitation before. I tried SST in combi mode and everything seems to work fine. It seems very odd that you would experience the SST cuff off problem half the time.

I noticed there is no voice name list among the manuals. I am wondering whether that means those extra voices in the new Kronos are not included in the 3.0.2 update or if the 3.0.2 update installs them automatically. Either way, I'll make sure I have a current backup.
I read 12 vintage fx were added in the Os update.

I recall that program banks A and B would change . Maybe that would take place in January . Let us know if you see a difference with 3.0.2

Thanks
Great update with some very interesting new features, especially in setlist and the effects. Unfortunately the smooth U-Vibe effect that I like so much (and present in the Krome and the KingKorg), seems to be left out. Well, can't have it all I guess ;-)
Though I'm very glad that the Small and the Orange are there.

Issues updating

Downloaded the update and popped it on a Fat32 thumb drive. I made sure that I didn't include the main folder and only the sub folders and files. Popped it into the Kronos and tried updating system software but keep getting an error stating Update error. The system update was not successful. What am I doing wrong? I am no beginner when it comes to computers and have updated the Kronos a few times already. Any help?

Got it sorted out. The Kronos is a bit picky about formatting the drive with a PC. Stuck the USB and formatted it with the Kronos and popped the files back on and now updated fine.

Those are the correct steps (assuming you copied the files to the root directory of the thumb drive). Also, have you tried another thumb drive? I have read other people have had problems with certain thumb drives while trying to update their Kronos.

Thanks!
