Yes, very good, indeed! Can you let us know anything else about the sounds used, sequencing, etc.?

The bass sounds i made on the mod 7 synth engine. Used a lot of compression and eq on the piano etc. most of the insert fx r on the vocals and to get the glitches the kronos has a glitch effect insert fx. I sequence into cubase because its a lot easier to edit and then record the midi tracks in as wav so it can all be mastered down etc.

Thanks! Did you master on the Kronos, or in Cubase?

Compression and limiting on tfx on kronos but loudness and stereo space mastering in cubase. All sounds and instruments are from the Kronos.

stephenuk- I just can't let this go! What a great track; becoming one of my favorites! UK guys (rule-!!) know this genre really well! (How many tracks total in all with this song? What do you mean when sequenced into Cubase; recording midi events into Cubase, then when finished editing in Cubase, recording the audio out of Kronos into .wav . . .? -or- [help me understand, please!]). You know, the Kronos (Oasys, too) really upped everything. What a pro sound! Also, in the midst of so many cheesy sounding demos for keyboards in which to judge a keyboard by, it's really great to hear when someone really pushes the envelope to hear what a board can really, REALLY do! I have an original K88 (am getting the 'K2'88 as well), and my trusty Triton Extreme/Moss88 combo. I love mostly working with just the keyboards and a few outboard gear with my DAW (DP7), and I'm a happy camper! All I need or want, really! Your tracks really inspire me that the Kronos IS capable of a pro sound! Thanks again!- T.

Thanks for your kind words. I use the onboard kronos sequencer to create the overall structure of my tracks because i cant be fussed with all the nonsense in daws with mouse clicking here and there setting up before i can even get to compose i like to just hit record and go. So once i have finished the song structure on the kronos i then record the midi events from the kronos into cubase if you set the kronos as the master clock and hit record in cubase it will record all the midi events you can also export as midi files but i prefer doing it this way. The song has about 12 tracks in total. I am a great beliver in keeping it simple is more. I have never liked this whole over produced commercial crap under the umbrella term "EDM" i.e Martin Garrix, David Guetta,Tiesto who have probably not even played a keyboard in their entire lives. its just a brand name with no credibility which has the audacity to cross over and ruin the credibility of true house and dance music. I personally call it Ebola Dire Music lol. Most of those tracks probably have 100 tracks of layered trash because a lot of people dont know how to maximise with less tracks and put the effort in and are just lazy and say what the hell i have unlimited tracks. Anyway once the midi data is in cubase i will fine edit the info i.e note legnths etc to create a tighter sound, until korg give us the piano roll editor like on the M3 thats the way im gonna do it as the midi editor on the kronos would take years to change all the note legnths one by one, even if korg cant give us the piano roll at least a select all notes and change note legnths option. I then add the insert fx and tweak them. After editing all i then record the kronos tracks as wav audio into cubase, a long process as i have to do each track one by one so the sounds are seperate and not mixed together. I then mix down to stereo HiFi VHS believe it or not just to get a bit of that analogue sound then back into the Daw as a stereo mix. Then once im happy with my mix and eq will then master it down with izotope ozone and the glue. Still you dont need that for professional results the kronos built in total fx limiters and compressors do a great job. Its pretty hard for the kronos not to sound great remember its a premium product from korg and thats what i would expect from a great piece of kit, its just not many people make dance music with it so you dont get to hear that genre, or people may use the kronos just for an amazing synth sound or the piano, where i like creating a whole production on it etc. Anyway hope this gives you some insight.

I'm hearing what you're saying on ALL accounts. By the way, the only reason why I wanted to know more about this track isn't because I wanted to know your secrets of production, but to have more confidence in that I can SOUND like a 'big' production with just a few pieces of carefully chosen equipment. On paper, I knew I probably could. To hear it in motion, like your remix, is validation. (I, too, like simplicity. You're so much like myself in reguard to what you're saying!). After hearing your remix, never hearing the original before, I had a listen on YouTube. I like yours SO much better! (I mean no offense to the original!!). One thing in my workflow I was pondering, you mentioned in your worklow. I know there's different reasons (and ways) to do different things, but to ask you a question that's been bugging me for the longest time (and I think you would understand the answer). For example- If I have 16 tracks (effect-laden) and want to record them to DP as audio (each 16 tracks separately, including those effects), would the playback of those tracks together (because of recording each track individually) potentially not sound the same way due to phase-related issues (or whatever) as comparison to a direct stereo mix-down? I guess it would depend on the settings/frequencies (etc.) within each effect/sound and how they would relate together as a whole. I hope I'm clear. By the way, that was a neat trick with the VHS! ROTF!!! (Whoever would've thought?!). It really doesn't matter how you get there, as long as it gets done! I could write you a book, 'bro! There's a time I wish these forums had some kind of phone feature so we could all talk together! I'm a hopeless perfectionist with proofreading (all without one shown edit-lol!). I have so much to say, when talking would be so much easier! Anyway, THANK YOU for your generous insight! You've helped me tremendously!- T.

stephenuk- In all the ramblings in my recent post above, there's a question tucked in there for you. Would you please give me your thoughts on this? Thanks!
