Electribe 2 resolution

Post by KnowingWhatTheButtonDoes »

I couldnt get a bassline to funk right today and realised it was because i needed 32nd note resolution. I'll try in the morning but i think we're stuck with 16th.
The auto quantize issue obviously stops you being able to record them in with keybord mode properly by pusing the latter 32nds forward or back to thier closest 16th.

indeed - so frustrating....

wacky but sometimes used on old skool gear....

how about combinations of arp patterns with swing and groove templates?

and use of erase part?

compare this to the kpro - you could record a loop with aim of slowing it way down to erase the notes you didnt want...

the problem was when you returned to correct bpm that process would mangle the entire pitch and you were stuffed.

this isnt doing that... you can slow it way down, erase notes, then bring yr bpm back up again.

You can switch the electribe from 16 into 32nd note resolution. It's in the menu, near bar length. I suggest slowing the tempo down while doing real-time recording, so your 32nd notes land in the right place, then speed it back up after.

Ancient tribal seers worshiped two occult documents. One was called the "user manual" and the other known as the "parameter guide," which were used in combination with powerful hallucinogens to divine menu functions for their stone-age musical abacus.

Way better way of saying RTFM. :)

I had already read the -30 words in the manual regarding that function and I still cant see less than 16 steps to a bar in the step edit screen after playing with it. How could I anyway? There is only 16 touch pads to trigger with per bar.
arp patterns with swing and groove templates
This seems to be how you're meant to do it.

I'd suggest taking a harder look at the parameter guide. Or re-read my previous answer.

Or turn on your electribe, pull up your pattern, hit "menu," scroll through the parameters until you see something that looks like it is limiting your time signature.

It's a workaround so clever it could only be Korg.

Ok so I just went and switched the timing to 32nd and it seems to basicly just use the double bpm trick. Is it halving the pattern length to 2 bars!?

If so then this is pretty much useless, and just a trick to keep it in time with midi clock instead of using the double bpm workaround.

Hopefully I've missed something here...

I think you got it. It's the relative nature of note resolution versus tempo with a fixed note number per pattern.

The electribe handles a maximum of 64 notes per part per pattern no matter the tempo, note resolution, bar length, etc. Whatever equals 64 is your max.

Normal behavior is up to 4 bars of 16th notes.

Or up to 2 bars of 32nd.

I like chopping the tempo down to half-speed and working within a 8th note grid of 8 virtual bars. Or get crazy and dive down to 30 bpm for 16 bars of quarter notes. Not exactly high resolution.
