It may be due to a lack of coffee or sleep, but I can't figure out how to enter different note values in the sequencer. It defaults to C4.
What did I miss?

No! You've not missed Anything!
Make Yourself a REALLY BIG mug of Coffee and when you've entered all your notes into the Sequencer at C4, go not "Step Edit" mode....
Now you can Individually change the note values for each step...
Upto 4 notes for each and every step...
Now You're GLAD you've only got 4 bars to work with aren't You????!!!
Hopefully Korg will fix this soon and enable the keyboard (via that Shi*t key{see page 12 of your manual}maybe?) whilst in sequencer mode!
Good Luck!
Edits for spelling on my Dumb Fone!

Bummer! In step edit you also can't use the pads to enter notes. I have sore thumbs from turning the knob to change notes. Also it is not very hands on to change notes this way. I want to hear it when entering it.

Annoying isn't it?
I've resorted to playing in the notes and deleting each 'take" to attempt a re-dub...
Shift/Pad13 takes you to the "Part Menu" page 3/4 Clear part just deletes all the notes you've just recorded. Just be careful that before you press "Enter" that you've still got the Part you're working on selected, otherwise if say you're in trigger mode you'll delete Part 13!!
Go on... Ask me how I Know!!

Haha, I know how you now. Some of the wrong button presses of me, I now use to my benefit. Like part erase to delete a few notes only. I lost many notes cuz I was under the impression I was in trigger mode when in reality I was in part erase mode

Oh god me too, my brain is so EMX1 orientated that I hold the button down whilst erasing even though I don't need to , but then forget to move back to keyboard mode and mess up other parts by erasing bits here and there until I figure whats going on.

Think happy accidents, not lost work. Though I admit it can be stifling creativity once you start getting frustrated with the machine. I'm most bummed out by the event recorder crapping out after a minute or so. So many nice little jams gone in the wind.
