Kronos X-Y controller

Post by dapa12 »

I've replaced my MIDI controller keyboard with my Kronos X 88 and want to use the X-Y controller as a mod wheel for controlling the dynamics of virtual instruments. Because the controller is spring loaded self-centering, it always pulls the modulation back to minimum value. I would to control this so that the modulation value stays the same as set, even though the physical controller has popped back to center position. Is this possible?

It's possible. (I presume you mean the joystick, by the way.)

You can assign one of the "JS lock" options to either SW1 or SW2. You assign this on the Basic/Vector > Controllers page in a program, or on the EQ/ Vector / Control > Controllers page in a combi. Many programs will have this assigned already to SW2.

To learn more about the various JS Lock functions, check out pg 1109 in the Parameter Guide. I actually quite like the JS +Ribbon options so that I can lock the ribbon controller, too.

You could also consider using the Vector Joystick, which isn't spring loaded and will hold the modulation level, with the Enable CC Control box checked and appropriate CC settings.
