Kronos 2 Software Preload

Post by lotty1 »

I don't understand why korg did not release the complete software for the Kronos 2 and put that on the Kronos X etc
Why did they just release the change so we have to build the complete software again.
I know I'm moaning but it would have been easy for them to do and easier for us

The Kronos X came out in, what, 2012? How could they have pre-loaded OS3 on it when it only came out a couple months ago?

the Kronos X was introduced in July 2012 with OS version 2 and the Kronos 2 with OS version 3 was announced in November 2014 (marketed as "new Kronos")

numerous complaints about the long d/l time for the sound pack

If it was the entire set from the Kronos 2 I think there would have been massive meltdown on the forum and a 4 week traffic jam on the Korg shop site. Its possible Korg did us Kronos 2011 and Kronos X owners a favor by simply adding to the set we already had, in terms of convenience

The long download on Exs17,18 was due to Korg not have enough server power not just big files. Another issue is that Exs17,18 ,Krs07, install into different slots depending on if you have a Kronos or Kronos X. I would gladly pay for Korg to distribute this software on DVD or usb memory stick and send it to us by USPS. It would be nice to pay $250 and get a setup like the Kronos 2 not a bit by bit upgrade.

I just tried to d/l the Berlin, thats the 4.4 gig zip file, the largest of the bunch.

The d/l time for me is 2 hours , 30 minutes.

Thats a big improvement from the first weekend of the Sound Pack announcement where the d/l would take 8 or more hours.

so , my assumption is there is less traffic on the server. This was predictable. Of course, Korg should have a mirror site or whatever for anticipated heavy traffic the first week.

IMO, its not difficult to have some patience for a 2-3 hour d/l. The Berlin is certainly worth it and the KRs07 is tremendous fun.

Imagine 10 yrs ago- to get a 9 gig incredible sounding acoustic piano for your digital keyboard for a reasonable price was a dream.

I also think its best to ' look before you leap '. There is no immediate need to buy the Sound Package. Folks can try out the Demo to get a taste.

Upgrade packs

Post by Ptoosh »

Ok, please forgive my ignorance. I just bought the Kronos 61 x. Got 250 discount. Spent an entire afternoon and evening installing 3.0 OS. Tried miltiple sticks. Formated on kronos, copied ALL files, and it finally loaded. What a task.
Now my delimna, if i download and install $250.00 sound pack, will i, in fact, have All of the same sounds and functions as the NEW Kronos? What will the new have that i can not do on the X? With is kind of price, i want to make sure im future proofing. Perhaps,i should simply return and buy the NEW.? Really appreciate your thoughts and opinions
