How to save favorite tones for a song on PA900?

Post by swarupmahapatra »

Hi Guys,

I wanted to get your advice on a problem that I am trying to figure out.

I currently own a PA900 keyboard.

In the past I had a Yamaha PSR-S950 and Roland Jupiter 80 keyboard. Those boards had the facility to store/register the favorite tones for a live performance. For example – suppose I am going to play 5 songs live on stage. Each song has a set of tones (Like song 1 has Piano, Nylon guitar and Flute, Song 2 has Accordion, Banjo and Flute etc.). So, I used to save/register those settings for my stage performancce. How can I do the same on my PA900?

Thanks in advance

The best way do do this is by using the Songbook. You can store four Single Touch Settings for each "Song". A Song does't need to be a Style or MIDI OR MP3 - it can just be your settings for each live performance song and even though it might be associated with a style you don't need to play the style - you can just use the STS's.
Once set up you can create a custom list for the particular performance. When you Write/Save your "songs" I suggest you put your initials as the Artist name - this will enable you to quickly filter the list to show your songs only by using the Filter tab.
Hope it goes well.

now what we should do if i have to play 5-6 instruments for a single song?

Yes it's possible. Just create two song book entries and assign different STS to them - you get 8 slots in total. But the style should be same since you are only performing a single song. Now, how do i change from one song to another one without letting others know about it? assignable switch come to our rescue here. Assign 'next song book entry' feature to this assignable button and press at an appropriate time - you can switch over to new song - you get another 4 more STS!!!!

You also use the Performances to change sounds instantly. Have your favorite sound saved to come up when you press a Performance memory button.
Gives you an instant sound for each memory.
Keep Style Change light off and set Global to automatically select the sound when the button is pressed.

Song book stores muted Tracks, volume settings and Style var

Post by subhap »

The song book stores what Variation you want to begin with: Var1 or Var2 for example. You can also set certain tracks muted which can be recalled. In my case some Accomp tracks muted.

Recalling Song book via the interface is cumbersome, compared to recalling performance. I am not sure if you can store muted tracks settings or Track settings such as MIDI - internal/external or both ..
