I've also had the error issue - I downloaded the .zip files and unzipped to a memory stick, copied to the HDD and when I try to install it throws up an error. Any idea?

I would try a different browser i use Google Chrome and had no issues. just click on the question mark when you are downloading and it gives precise instructions on how to download correctly. Good luck.

It has to do with the unzip method I think. It works better if you use a utility like 7Zip or Winrar to unpack the files rather than drag them out of the packed folder in Explorer. I think it has to do with the folder structure?

You shouldn't be copying the files to the SSD. You should be installing from the USB stick.

System requirements
To install EXs, you’ll need:
KRONOS system version 1.5.0 or later. The latest system version can be doanloaded from www.korg.com/Kronos/Support

Installing EXs
Unzip the downloaded EXs.zip file.
Unzipping the archive will result in a folder containing several different files.
Copy the unzipped EXs folder to a USB storage device, such as flash memory or a USB hard drive.
Safely disconnect the USB storage device from your computer.
Connect the USB storage device to one of the KRONOS’s two USB A ports.
Press the DISK button to enter Disk mode.
Touch the "Utility" tab.
Using the "Drive Select" menu at the bottom of the page, select the USB storage device.
Touch the folder containing the EXs data from step 2, then touch "Open."
Touch the EXs.exsins file to select it.
Select "Install EXs" from the drop-down menu, or simply touch "Install".
The system will check to confirm that the installation files are valid, and that there is sufficient space on the SSD to install the EXs. Next, an “Install EXs ”dialog box will appear:
Touch "Install" to continue with the installation.
The confirmation message “Are you sure?” will appear. If you decide to cancel the installation, touch "Cancel."
Touch "OK" to continue with the installation.
The installation will then begin. This may take a while; a progress bar shows the installation as it proceeds.

Next, the newly installed files will be verified. After the verification has completed successfully, the progress bar will disappear, and the installation is complete. The EXs sample data itself is installed on an invisible, protected part of the disk. To use the EXs, you’ll load its associated files, which will be installed into a new folder named “EXs (title) ” within the Purgatory Creek folder.
Turn the power switch off, wait 10 seconds, and then turn it on again.

Loading the new samples and sounds
You can load the samples and sounds(Programs, Combis, Drum Kits, Wave Sequences, and Songs) into the default locations all at once.

To do so:
While still in Disk mode, touch the "Load" tab.
Set "Drive Select" to HDD: INTERNAL HD.
Select the Purgatory Creek folder, and touch "Open."
Select the EXs (title) folder, and touch "Open."
Select the file "EXs.PCG."
Touch "Load."
A dialog box appears.
Enable the check-box labeled "Load EXs.KSC. too."
This will load the samples along with the sounds.
Set "Select .KSC Allocation" to "Append," and set "Load Method" to "KSC Setting."
Leave the ".PCG Contents" parameter set to "All."
Below the other parameters, you’ll notice a status line showing the Memory Required and Available. If the Available value is larger than Memory Required, the text will be in black, and you can proceed. If the Available value is smaller than Memory Required, it will be shown in red characters. (*1)
Touch "OK" to load the data.

The sheer generosity displayed by some folks on here is still mind boggling to me. You're a real asset to the Kronos community, Busch. I finally got around to finding and clicking your "donate" button. It's not on your blog, but on the Purgatory Creek site, here:
http://purgatorycreek.com/

I can't look in other people's wallets but this guy has bought and meticulously sampled a Rhodes Mk1, Rhodes Mk5, Hohner Clavinet D6, developed a large bank of "famous synth sounds" and converted countless public domain sample sets and offered them all completely FOR FREE. You could fill up an entire Kronos with just the high quality content he has made available. Donating is just a few clicks and it could be five bucks, ten bucks or a hundred, whatever you think is worth it or can spare. Think of it the next time you play his excellent sounds!

Thank you Sander for the info on the DONATE button. I wasn't aware of that & have contributed. There's also an option to have a recurring Monthly payment. It all adds up & is very well spent. Hopefully the idea is catching on!

If your computer is a mac, make sure you're not trying to install the file with the "._" at the beginning of the name. Those are invalid files. Further down the list is the real install file.

I haven't read this whole thread, but recently I had some problems trying to either copy or install an ex from korgs website. What solved it:

Creating a folder/directory on my usb stick (didn't matter what the name was)

installing it from that directory.

I kept getting errors trying to install it from the root directory of the usb drive. This is on a brand new Kronos2. K2 didn't like one of the files, if it was in the root directory of the usb drive.

Hope this helps...

not sure if this was causing the error... but I was transferring the file via ethernet port to the kronos ssd drive, then copying the file from the ssd drive to the usb stick. I would get an error saying invalid file.

so i just (stopped being lazy) and put the usb stick in the computer and copied the files the normal way. it worked this time.

well the MARK V did... the MARK I would not install (it said there was not enough room on the disc... I thought the MARK V file was larger than the MARK I (is that right or wrong:?:) I had just over 1 gig worth of space on the SSD drive. I was going to try each one of the MARKs and decide which I like the best and keep that one. But it won't even let me install the MARK I (due to space issues...) Am I still doing something wrong :?:

also... what are the other programs for that are in the PurgCreek ALL.PCG
