Compression/Sidechain on live act with Electribes

Post by EnZoSbaraglia »

Hi guys,

I want to prepare a live act with my Electribes EMX-1 and ESX-1. My idea is, in the case of EMX-1, using individual outputs (3/4) to kick and bass respectively and route them to compressor with sidechain. But, in practice, can't imagine how to hook up the compressor (FMR Audio RNLA7239 - http://www.fmraudio.com/images/rnla%20f ... ethird.jpg) to my mixer (Soundcraft EFX8 - http://www.avacab-online.com/WebRoot/St ... 12_Top.jpg) via inserts for indivdual outputs.

Help please.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Enzo

The sidechain insert jack on the RNLA is designed so you can insert an eq or some other effect in the sidechain, commonly used for a de Esser. It may be possible with a specially wired cable to inject the kick signal into the sidechain return.

First to hook up the compressor, use a normal TRS cable from the bass channels insert to the RNLA. To get the kick to the sidechain you will need a cable with the Tip not connected and the ring with the kick signal on it on the RNLA side and just a normal TS on the other, maybe use an aux send to get the kick there. Or you could use a TRS with the tip and ring tied together and go from the kick channel insert. Does that help?
