Hi everyone

Last night I downloaded the ex17 and ex18 from
https://shop.korg.com/kronosSoundLibraries

I did finally manage to download the file (4 gigs plus) but the website itself is atrocious (or unresponsive) It won't load up correctly, using internet explorer, Firefox, chrome etc. I eventually managed to click the file download from Firefox browser and it downloaded in 3 hours. (In the background)

I followed the instructions to the letter (fat 32 usb format etc) copied the files over to the flash drive as instructed (several "unzipped" files plus the install one at the top).

I Put the USB in the Kronos, went through the motions as instructed and the filed showed up on my Kronos. I clicked install (the top "ins" file)

and got the prompt "FAILED. Exsinstall.exsins file error".

Could go no further. I've tried two USB sticks and formatted then on the pc and Kronos, Using all permutations available. (The 3.0.2 installed without an hitch by the way, and it's very good indeed this new OS).

Ok, is this a bad file download ? And if so, what happened as I let it fully download on my pc uninterrupted . Maybe I need to download again (it's bit though 4.3 gigs) but would want the correct/unmanaged (?) file this time as usage caps apply to me. Is this the only site with the file? As even this morning this webpage/site won't load up correctly.

Edit: not touched the download ex18 yet as want the berlin piano sorted first but I'm assuming this has to be installed separately?

Thanks.

I had the same problems with Exs19.
After excellent help from Kapro, the solution was to extract the files so on the USB stick it was a folder named "K2-EXs19", with all the files in.
Maybe that can help for you to.

Thanks synthee for the reply

I remember now in the manual with one file name for "kronos 1" (mine), and one for "Kronos X". ill have a quick look. thanks. So you renamed the files After you put them on the USB Stick??, or you mean I have to create a new folder with a new/different name and then put the files (unchanged) on?

I created a folder named K2-EXs19 on the USB stick, and extracted the files into that folder.
Maybe Kronos wants all the files in one folder, Im not sure, but it worked.

Well, I've renamed the folder on the USB stick to "K2-EXs17" and put the 7 files on the USB stick within that folder, but still get the error. Do the files themselves need to be UNCHANGED? as its not working out for me I'm afraid.

you might have two .exsins files on your thumb drive.

if so, try the 2nd file

if no go, you could have a corrupt d/l

since the EXs came out in late January, there are about 50 post topics covering the same type install issues. If you google the forum, you will find many posts on troubleshooting the install

Thanks Greg.

I sorted it! I put my USB in the other USB socket and it just worked (load came up etc) not sure why it wouldn't work in the first one I tried. Probably because USBs have a memory for other hardware (like pcs)? As had iPad in there before this. The other USB were it worked was occupied by a cd drive. Anyway I've loaded it now and will do the others later (exs18).

Thanks.

If you stuck an iPad into that port it is possible it was damaged. You should never hook up a device that supplies power to a USB type A socket. Unless you just tried charging it with a regular cable?

PS to clarify, occasionally we get people who try to hook up the camera kit to a USB A port. Or who try to hook up the Kronos USB A port to a computer.
