KRONOS LATENCY TO VIDEO SOFTWARE

Post by spaceman3 »

I hooked up my KRONOS usb to my computer.
My computer is running sony movie studio platinum.
I have KRONOS audio going through to the sony software, and its working, but i have latency.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
I thought maybe it had something to do with the drivers but not sure.
Any input on this would be much apreciated.
:)

Hi.

What driver are you using? With a good sound card I you should always be using its ASIO driver for minimal latency.

Then you need to ensure that the ASIO driver's latency is set as low as your computer can manage without they sound breaking up. There will always be a control panel for setting up the driver. Which you can usually get to vi a the Audio settings of the host application that you are using

Obviously all of the specifics will depend upon your system and sound card, so can't help much on the details. Perhaps if you gave those details, others might be able to chip in if they have a similar setup? :)

Perhaps you could try monitoring you Kronos directly from the Kronos (through another output) as opposed to through your video capture software.

In my experience there is always latency when in this process - the question is how much of it can you deal with and still get the job done.

And of course your audio card buffer size will play a large part in this - set it as low as possible but not so low that the audio crackles or breaks up at all.

I'm not a guru at this stuff - but I have dealt with it many times on the OSX platform. Playing around with settings and preferences generally will get you acceptable results - although it can be a real pain in the butt.

Thanks for the info, Derek and Bolder.
Seems my driver was set to microsoft sound mapper.
Gonna switch it to asio, and lower the driver latency.
I am totaly new to using a computer for mixing sound and video.
Also going to try different monitoring set ups.

Glad you got it working. What ASIO driver did you use? Korg don't provide an ASIO driver for the KRONOS, so it must be a third-party one?

The driver is asio.
I dont know much about these things, but i think it was already in the sony vaio laptop i am using.
I thought it might be asio4,as i have heard that is a really good driver, but again im not certain.
It just shows up as asio.
