Piano naming scheme

Hi all!
I just recently got my hands on a Kronos 2, which is my first ever pro keyboard/synth/workstation ever. Absolutely amazing I must say!
But anyways, going through the piano, what do the piano names mean, for example, "German D Dark 1", or "Japanese C 1"?
I understand the dark or bright. But what I'm not sure about is the letter "D", or "C", or even "I" in the Austrian section.
I'm no piano hardware pro. I just play the thing, haha. Do those letters mean anything specific?
Any insight/history/links will be greatly appreciated! ( I tried googling)
