Loaded a PCG file that overwrote EVERYTHING - can I undo?

Post by jmdodge »

I downloaded some sounds I wanted to try out. I haven't used the disk mode all that much and I'm not super comfortable with it and have had trouble remembering what all the file types are and such.

Anyway, I think this package was bundled wrong because when I loaded the PCG it put ALL of the author's programs, combis, setlists, etc on my board - not just sounds from one bank.

I've literally lost everything I've ever done to my Kronos.
Brilliantly, I've never made a backup.

Is there any way to undo?

If you have a back up load it instead.

Sadly, I don't have a backup. I was hoping there was an automatic one somewhere or something.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no such automatic backup exists on the Kronos.

Have you ever synced your Kronos with the PC Editor software? If so, that will have a copy of the last synchronised state that you might be able to use to restore from.

In many ways, a PCG file is like a hard drive image - if you load one indiscriminately, you have the power to overwrite everything. Although it's quite logical, it unfortunately seems to be a trap that catches a lot of first time users out.
