Program Change (MSB, LSB) numbers

Post by dcpiano88 »

I have scoured the internet for a list of the Program Change numbers for the new Korg Kronos 2 and have not found anything and my experimentation has also failed. I would certainly appreciate any help anyone could offer. I use Mainstage 3 and Logic Pro X to change the sounds on my controllers during a live performance and on every other controller I own (Yamaha S90XS, Roland Integra 7, and my old Korg Triton Workstation), there are lists out there that correspond to each patch with a Program Change Number (generally the numeric number of the sound/instrument) and an MSB/LSB number that I can enter into my DAW that allows me to change banks and sounds. The best I could do is program a list of sounds into the set list and then control it there but then that limits you to only 128 patches. AS a Broadway programmer and pianist, it is not uncommon to see shows with over 400 patch changes per show so I need to be able to do this outside of the set list.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. As a Kronos newbie, this board is invaluable.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Maybe tis is what you search for. a while ago i made two Logic Multiinstruments with preprogramed MSB/LSB bank changes:

This info can be found in the Kronos Parameter Guide in Global > Bank Map. In the 3.0 version, that's on page 756.

Here it is for reference:

I saw this, but for some reason, I can still only change Programs, I cannot change any of the Internal or User Banks and it is set to Korg and not GM2 so I am not sure what I am missing.

If it is set to Korg Bank Map, you should be able to send these MIDI messages to change bank and patch:

CC# 00 Val 000
CC# 32 Val 001
Program Change #nnn (changes to Bank I-B nnn)

or

CC# 00 Val 000
CC# 32 Val 014
Program Change #nnn (changes to Bank U-G nnn)

The only other thing I can think of is there is a setting in Global MIDI > MIDI Filter for "Bank Change" - if this checkbox is off, then no bank changes would happen.

make sure you have enabled KRONOS to receive Bank Change messages in the GLOBAL P1: MIDI -- MIDI page.
The checkboxes for Enable Program Change as well as for Bank Change have to be checked in order for the KRONOS to transmit and receive these messages.

Hope you have gotten this to work. It is all the information you need. I can definitely get Logic to control my Kronos.
