IMPORTANT NOTICE! Downgrade the operating system 2.0.2

Post by AlchemistMusicStudio »

Downgrade:
- OS. 2.0.2 to OS. 1.5.0 (ect)
- OS. 2.0.2 to OS. 1.6.0 (ect)

After installing 2.0.2, Do not install OS 1.5 ... or 1.6 ... I installed both systems, and my Kronos 'died' (twice :) - murders on behalf of the AMS).
A prompt appeared on the screen: The system cannot start due to a file system error. Please reinstall the system software.

I Used the "Full Install" option - reinstalling the system from the DVDs? The function does the following:
- Restores the system software on the internal hard drive
- Initializes the internal memory, and re‐loads the original factory preload data–including all Programs, Combinations, Drum Kits, Wave Sequences, and Global settings
- Erases all files inside the internal hard drive’s FACTORY directory, and then restores the factory preload files, including the PRELOAD.PCG file and the demo sequences (leaves all other data on the disk intact).

Summary:
1. Time (Full Install): 40 minutes (DVD1) + 8 minutes (DVD2)
2. Result: the Kronos is alive – OS. 1.0.1!
3. Level of aggression: \:D/

Then, I re-installed the system: 2.0.2. Operation time: 2 minutes. Everything works!

Why would you want to downgrade ?
And why go back to 2.0.2 again ?
Old gig setup: Yamaha S90, Roland Fantom XR, Hammond XM-1, M-Audio Axiom 61
2011 gig setup: Korg Kronos 88

Yes it seems 2.0.2 fixed (most/all) of the bugs from 1.5/1.6 anyway.

Yes i remember the topic... well i guess you have to reinstall kronos if you (ever) wanted to downgrade it...

Anyway, the advice is quite important - earlier versions seem to be less dangerous to downgrade. From 1.6 to 1.5 for example went easily without re-installing the system. It's good to know that it's different from 2.0 to 1.x.

I'll admit that I'm confused.
Too much equipment. What a bonehead.

This is a warning for other users. I remember how it was with (downgrade) operating systems for the Korg M3: OS. 1.xx and OS. 2.xx Xpanded:

- eg. Downgrade from OS. 1.0.3 to OS. 1.0.1 - possible
- eg. Downgrade from OS. 1.2.0 to OS. 1.1.1 - possible
- eg. Downgrade from OS. 2.0.4 to OS. 2.0.0 - possible
- eg. Downgrade from OS. 2.0.0 (etc.) to OS. 1.2.0 (etc.) - not possible and the instrument is locked
