USB Ethernet adapter supported
After upgrading, one of the main things for me was the ability to jack up the keyboard via USB WLAN to my computer to get rid of the USB cable.
Now I have checked the USB adapers supported. None of these can be found at any of the suppliers I've looked at here in Sweden. None.
I can see at least one is available via Amazon, but that's not the best of ways to buy this kind of stuff if you live where I do...
I realize that this is about Linux drivers for the hardware wlan adapers, but I really would have hoped for at least ONE adapter that I could buy...
Anyone has any ideas of how this can be solved? Anyone heard if Korg plans to make these available via their resellers?
Steve

Ah... that's it! I'm not really an Apple guy (despite owning a couple of iPads) so I didn't even consider that possibility. Maybe that's why they put it first in the list...Qtipcore wrote:Not even the Apple one???

Well... even if my 88 has a wooden bottom plate and I have the garage full of drills'n'stuff I'm not quite into that. Besides... what's the point of getting rid of the USB cable just to have another cable instead...trainee wrote:The kronos has an internal ethernet port. this can be used. I'm already using it and it works without any problems. The speed is really good.
The only problem is to get the cable out of the kronos. My bottom plate has a drilled hole now
Ok, I guess you don't have to make the investment. But I was sort of liking the idea of wireless, because that would make it available to all my computers without moving cables.
Thanks for the idea though. It might be a good idea for someone else!

I bought just a cheap sitecom adapter, which also was not in the list (was not even known at that time when I tried).
I have a Sitecom LN-030 but I don't know if those are sold there.
Probably it is safe for more non WLAN (so LAN only) adapter to try.

Just ordered SANOXY USB over Cat5/5e/6 Extension Cable RJ45 Adapter Set' by Generic This was on Amazon but not even Prime - free shipping for all.michelkeijzers wrote:I bought just a cheap sitecom adapter, which also was not in the list (was not even known at that time when I tried).

Cost $5.33 including delivery.
The Sitecom one seemed very expensive by comparison.

That SANOXY product routes USB signals over CAT5 cable. Despite the use of CAT5 it is not related to ethernet, and will not work for this purpose.Ksynth wrote:Just ordered SANOXY USB over Cat5/5e/6 Extension Cable RJ45 Adapter Set' by Generic This was on Amazon but not even Prime - free shipping for all.michelkeijzers wrote:I bought just a cheap sitecom adapter, which also was not in the list (was not even known at that time when I tried).

This section from the manuals (in both the Operation Guide and Parameter Guide) is pretty important:
The KRONOS supports a specific set of off‐the‐shelf USB Ethernet adaptors. Adaptors other than those listed below will not function properly.
Supported adaptors as of May 2012 are:
• Apple USB Ethernet Adapter (MC704ZM/A)
• Cisco Linksys USB‐300M
• TRENDnet TU2‐ET100
• BUFFALO LUA3‐U2‐AGT
• BUFFALO LUA3‐U2‐ATX
• BUFFALO LUA‐U2‐KTX
• IODATA ETX3‐US2
• Logitec LAN‐TX/U2B
• Logitec LAN‐TX/U2H3
• Planex UE‐100TX‐G3
We've tried a number of USB-ethernet adaptors, many of which did not work properly with the KRONOS. I would very strongly recommend buying one of the devices on this list.

Wireless FTP connection?
Is there a way to do it wireless? I would think a wireless USB dongle might do the trick, but I would like to know if anyone has tried it for a fact.

Get one of these : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003 ... 00_s00_i00
First set it up to connect with your wifi using the network connection on your pc.
Then connect it to one of the above mentioned adapters.

Are you really sure? Or do you mean others are not tested and MAY not work (or Korg does not want to be responsible if they function not propertly).danatkorg wrote:USB adaptors other than those specifically listed will not function properly.

We've tested a bunch of USB ethernet adaptors, and we've listed those that are confirmed will work properly. The others that we've tested (and there are a number of them!) have caused problems, including failure to connect to the network, performance degradation of the KRONOS, and/or crashes. Seriously.michelkeijzers wrote:Are you really sure? All of the listed adaptors are all inexpensive, and one or more from the list should be available in any major market worldwide. The Apple adaptor, for instance, is available world-wide and costs only $30.
There are probably some that we haven't tested that will work. There are *certainly* many that we've tested which do not work. Statistically speaking, a randomly-chosen adaptor is much more likely to fall into the latter category.
I strongly advise users to follow our published recommendations on this issue.

WiFi solution
I think I have come up with a simple solution to make Kronos go WiFi.
Using one of Korg's officially supported adapters (see above), you could connect this to a wireless Ethernet bridge.
Just like this one (swedish site, but I think the text is in English):
http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=589335
It says it works with ANY device which has network via cable. I'm gonna try this.
