Re-installing without a format will cause problems.
Please don't do this.
Formatting is almost never necessary. I am very sorry that the French distributor recommended this to you. I will be in contact with them to make sure that we all understand the proper troubleshooting and error recovery procedure.

please dan, can you explain why it makes things more difficult. if we format the disk, it should be ready to welcome the new data. is there some interference (? ), is there some data that stay on the HD even after format? |
Reinstalling older versions makes it more difficult to recover the system into a usable state *without* having to format, which is how most people would prefer to recover, I think.
You are correct that being willing to format should make it all much simpler, as it allows you to start fresh with "clean" software.
As to why your 1.1.0 install is still having issues even when using the format option, I can't tell you for sure. I will say that this, generally, starts pointing to problems with either the CDs you're installing from, the CDROM drive, or the Hard Drive itself. _________________ ________________________________

well, I did install the OS 1.3 update without any problems,...
No, authorization problems at all, all the old authorizations work like before.
Have a question about the new Karma GE. I did install the MOD.x files into user c, do I have to install the Karma GE somwhere else or are they already installed with the MOD.x files?
Please let me know, how that goes,...
best, imusic |

You load the .KGE files just like you would load a PCG file. You can either load the KGE file on it's own by selecting the file in disk mode and hitting the load button, or you can load any KGE/PCG pair (ie, they have the same name) by selecting the PCG file, hitting load, then checking the option box to load the KGE file, too.
So in the case of the factory programs for MOD-7, you could either load MOD-7.KGE on it's own, or load it with the PCG file by selecting MOD-7.PCG, hitting load, then selecting the option to load MOD-7.KGE at the same time.
Does this make sense to you? _________________ ________________________________

Yes - unfortunately, as I've mentioned, reinstalling earlier versions may cause difficulties; among other things, you *must* format the HD in this case. I'm very sorry that this has been a difficult process for you.
If anyone else runs into a similar problem, please try this:
1. Make sure that all USB devices are disconnected from the OASYS.
2. Re-burn the CD, and make sure that your CD burning program completes its verification successfully.
3. Instead of using the Global Update menu command, boot from the 1.3 updater CD. This is the "Method 1" described in the update guide.
Best regards,
