Anybody experienced excessive humming when taking Triton to gigs.
My Roland (Xp-50) never hums. Triton always does.
I am told it is grounding, wiring etc. But under same conditions Roland is OK. I do beleive Tirton is lot more sensitive. I end up connecting keyboard Amp, reduce the volume on Amp and then Mike it. Just wondering if others have experienced this

Is the triton connected to a scsi?

I have experienced this at home when the cables from L/R output were near to the scsi cable. Once I moved them the humming dissapeared.

No SCSI. I so far have not been able to connect my TS output to a mixer directly while on stage. Hums like crazy. Output to Amp (very low volume) and then Miking is my work around. It can't be conicidence that Roland is always fine and TS is never. I will feel better if someone confirms this as a known issue with TS

In my experiance Roland hums much more than Korg

This is based on my experience with Xp-50 and Triton Studio (2 different keyboards) over last 3 years (on stage, I am ok in home studio environment)

Hope others post their experience. Lets see if this is a Keyboard issue or something else.

Various ones of my synths have produced 'hum' when plugged into other audio gear. It has always settled by using DI boxes with ground lift.

Thanks. Will try that. However my Original point remains. Roland Xp-50 doesn't hum without DI box while Korg Triton does. Some internal circutory seems to make Triton lot more sensitive to grounding issues...

Hi - I use a TS 76 and FantomX7 on stage a lot. The roland has balanced outs while the korg does not, even my oasys does not!! The TS does not hum though - a bit of a whirr if the hard drive is loading up samples but nothing major.

I think the TS is a fantastic gigging board - just wish it was a bit lighter.

I've never had a ground loop hum from my triton - but I always gig with a power conditioner and plug the mixer into the same conditioned power.

The TS has been hassle free for the last 3 years.

"The roland has balanced outs while the korg does not..." not sure I understand or whether this is something should be fixed in Korg. But my experience is that Korg does hum (not sound of sample loading) on stage (not at home) while Roland does not. This after trying different TS.

I love my TS and it is a fantastic machine, for studio work.
I am not sure that it is the best for gigs. Weight is one problem. Korg's features are not designed to make it easy to play live e.g. limitations with its RPRR functionality.
(I have posted before on this ) triggering multi-channel patterns, ability to stop a pattern and start the new one without touching 2 keys simulataneously
