padKONTROL, Korg USB and Vista32 - no go?

Post by MrDuke »

I'm using 32-bit Vista Premium. I've installed Korg's USB Driver 1.11, hooked the padKontrol up to my laptop via USB (usb powered also), but none of the software I'm using (Cubase, Ableton Live 6) sees any MIDI ports whatsoever. It's the same thing with the Editor Librarian too.

I've "Installed" padKontrol with the installation utility, then "Configured" it with the configuration utility - should be fine. I haven't changed any settings on padKontrol.

Help! I'm really frustrated with Korg products right now. I had a similar issue with the R3.

so it turns on and there no sound now what do you do ahhhhhhhhh. This happend to me last week but it easy fix once you no what to do. welcome to KORG they should just have a video that shows you step by step on what to do butt nnooooo. i use the wave station and FL studios for some reason my id code doesnt work for reason adapted so if any could hook me with an id code or tell me how you type it in.

i got mine last week of off ebay everything is half price on ebay its like black friday all at ebay woo woo. i have vista amd64

open the padkontrol editor lib

make sure the padkontrol is truned on before you open the editor.

click the Receive button

yourpad kontrol should download the scene to the Editor you see a blue download bar. or it will say midi failed and you have to make sure your pad kontrol is on before you open the Editor

Now Scene 1 to 10 has all diifernt notes for your pad.

Open the wavestation or live

click system, click preferences, Driver type click direct sound, NOw go to midi setting and go down the list port in port a port b. master i hvae no clue what master is it you can leave it blank or port a in.

So with other programs go to preferences midi setting and make sure you hook up port in, port a, port B.

live you click on ooptions then preferences.

i like to fool around with the wavestation does anyone no how to connect the wave station to FL studio so i can record using the wavestation.

Does anyone no how to set your pad so the drum roll doesnt roll when you lightly press a pad but when you hold the pad down it rolls. i did this last night but now i cant get it to work last night the drum roll only rollled when i held the pad down. anyone no how to do this korg should have video tutorials for all there products step by step how to tutorials youtube is the only place

Wow! Someone actually replied, thanks for that. Anyway - here's where's my problem - the Editor Librarian doesn't see any MIDI ports whatsoever, and neither does Live or Cubase. So I can't do the "Receive" Dump. :( That was partially what my question was about... And I've usually had the pK powered on before trying the Editor too, so that's not it.

I'm guessing it's the (crappy) Korg USB Driver that's causing the problem. But it works for you, though?

Not too happy with my purchase! :( (And with Korg's Customer Support, or lack thereof)

---Also it should be noted that I'm not a newbie or a novice with MIDI, studio hardware or software, or computers either...

But read my first message... I've installed the driver, and configured it too (you first run the "Install", and then run the "Configure"). And it shows that it should be working. But I can't get any of the MIDI ports to show anywhere...

I also have this problem. I tried the padKONTROL on my wife's laptop - and it was recognized immediately. I have contacted Korg and they don't know what the problem is!! Unbelievable, really. So, it's obvious there are problems with the new drivers listed on Korg's website. I have attempted five or six installs, restarting between each - to no avail. I guess I'll have to dig out my old, decrepit XP box so I can use my new PK!

Sorry, this is my first post. I'm actually pretty tame.

I have exacly the same Problem like MrDuke and others on Windows VISTA 32 bit!!! The driver installs correct (first run the setup, then go to menu and choose Install driver) then it will be installed correct in the device list under section "Audio"

So I don't see any MIDI-In/Out from any controller. I have a Korg X50 and a Korg K49 Controler keyboard. Both have the same effect!!! On a XP machine everything works fine!!!!

So conclusion: It must be the driver which isn't good. All other drivers from YAmaha for PSR-S900, a Roland SonicCell, and a M-Audio 88ES works fine!!! But not KORGs VErsion 1.11 for VISTA!

Please Korg: Correct it immediate!!! Thank you!!

I just will try to send a Email directly to www.korg.com -> link to this site!

Hi,

First of all i'm new here so here's a little introduction:

I'm 31 years old and do music for about hum... some years, can't remember.

Here's my problem, almost the same as everybody here except that i can't run the configure driver program because vista tells me that it can't launch my padKontrol. It says code 10, does anyone know this?

Finally, please excuse my poor english it's been years i didn't practise and only had the opportunity to learn it at school.

I already thanks everyone for your help.

Edit: I just found the solution by manually installing the driver, indeed the ezsetup program didn't do it well.

So i went in the hardware list and in the properties of the padkontrol update manually the driver, and it seems to run well now.

Maybe it will help someone ^^

I posted my solution for the problem
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=32888

The driver issue is a totally separate issue which still has to be followed though.
