Notre Dame Dominates Miami in Sun Bowl
Losing to Tulsa on Oct. 30 was easily the low point of the season for Brian Kelly's first year as coach of Notre Dame. Since then,Nike Shox Classic, however, the Fighting Irish have come alive. The exclamation point was Friday's 33-17 domination of Miami in the Sun Bowl.
With the victory, Notre Dame closes the season on a four-game winning streak and a record of 8-5.
Things came a bit easy on both sides of the ball from the get-go against the Hurricanes Friday. Miami quarterback Jacory Harris was picked off three times in the first half and was benched. Freshman Stephen Morris entered the game and threw yet another. Morris' pick was to Harrison Smith -- giving the senior safety his third interception of the game. He entered with just four picks in his entire career.
The takeaways helped the Irish build a 27-0 lead late in the first half, as the offense took full benefit,interest,favour,profit,gain of all the opportunities. The lead was 30-3 by the end of the third quarter before Kelly called the dogs off and Miami scored a couple late touchdowns. The Hurricanes action,deed,operation,performanceually outgained the Irish, but many yards came when the game was already decided.
Michael Floyd starred offensively for Notre Dame, hauling in six passes for 108 yards and a pair of scores. Tommy Rees completed 15 of 29 passes for 195 yards and the two touchdowns. Cierre Wood added a 34-yard touchdown romp on the ground. He ended with 84 yards on just 11 carries. Robert Hughes also had 84 rushing yards, coming on 27 carries.

He ended up playing well the rest of the way, racking up 281 yards and two touchdown passes. On the other side of the field, the Irish nation has to be feeling much better around,round things than just a few months before. Kelly's gotten through the first season with a winning record and having dealt with all kinds of injuries and adversity on and off the field.
