1. I had a Korg M3...what is the difference between the 2 sequencers?

2. Can a OS upgrade at a later date improve the sequencer to do what the M3 has?

1. Kronos doesn't have the M3's Cue List
2. Kronos Prgm/Mixer view shows all 16 MIDI tracks and mixer on 1 screen; M3 splits these into multiple screens
3. Kronos doesn't have the M3 expanded's track view edit, piano roll edit

Answer to two: yes it can, but if it will I do not know.

AS michelkeijzers states, Korg demostrated with the M3 that an upgrade to the internal sequencer is possible.

But the possibility is just that.

And IMHO, I dont see it happening, as it did not happened to the OASYS after years of requests.

What surprises me and lead me to think it wont happen, is the fact that the Kornos did not include all the new M3 Sequencer featues from the start, when it does include, for example,a derivation of the drum track feature, and the Sound Font 2 loading ability the M3 had.

As another example, Lets look at the Sequecer mode itself:
Why some things are added and upgraded but not all of them?

It has the same increased song resolution of the M3 over the OASYS, and a new ability to load stereo audio files; but it has not the other features of the M3 Xpanded (the dinamic anchor position on the track list while reproducing a song, the great velocity meters/activity per track, the track view, the piano roll editor, the cue lists, etc)

So Korg released the Kornos with some areas reworked on the sequencer but not others.
IMHO It all tends to indicate the sequencer mode will remain at it is.

I hope I´m wrong, though.

Unfortunately, I think you're right, but I still hold out some irrational hope that the Kronos sequencer was left as it was, temporarily, so that the M3 would remain a viable product in its own right, and that eventually it would be upgraded to M3 spec. A fool's hope, I fear...

IMHO it indicates that they ran out of time. At some point the bean-counters insist that the instrument be released.

Guess we won't know for sure until that first BIG patch is released... not talking about a little OS bugfix patch... talking about the big patch with the new features in it
