The Kronos Korg drum maps are different from GM. However, if you transpose them up one octave they work much better. If you go farther and edit the drum programs, especially snares and hi-hat volumes, they work fine. The ambient sets located in user bank A are very good.

I have contacted Korg support for a more concise remedy and they are working on it now. They initially confirmed that the Korg maps are different from GM (why I am not sure) and that some note shifting will probably be required. It seems that most grooves and loops are in GM format?

Anyway. I will wait for their response and pass it along on this thread.

Is this also true for the G(d) bank drum maps?

The Parameter Guide page 42 says:

Quote:
Note: GM Drum Programs use a different mapping of
sounds to MIDI notes, and so the Drum Track Patterns
may not always sound as expected. In some cases,
setting Shift to ‐12 may correct the mapping.

It was the same with the Triton - I set up a different drum map shifted by an octave for when I use my Triton with Cu-base.

Based in the title to this thread, I was thinking I would find Captain Jack Sparrow now looking for his favorite beverage with a Kronos! Grin
