Unfortunately, Novation Impulse 49 (as one of the best controllesr nowadays) does not work with KRONOS as MIDI Compliant controller.
I had a lot of contact with representatives of Novation and they claim that their device is MIDI compliant because it works with the iPad plug'n'play only with the USB cable and they claim there is problem with Korg.??
Has anyone tried the Kronos with Novation Impulse and do some work only with the USB cable?

NI Maschine, jus bought one, a lot of fun no kronos here yet to try it on but here is what I know. NI Maschine is a software system with a integrated hardware controller, the software is all contained in the computer. But since it is a midi class compliant midi controller which means you can program every button or knob to do what you want. I do not know if you can plug it directly I to the Kronos or not when mine arrives I will try, but there is no reasson you can't run it through the computer to the Kronos. As I understand it at the moment. Through the computer the plus would be you cod switch between maschine mode, using the software, and midi controller mode. Best of both world when you need it.
M-Audio Keystation Pro88
Keystation Pro88 works with Kronos also... powered from Kronos. Just got my Kronos this past week, and haven't really played with the KS Pro88 outside of plugging it in, and it's powred and playing notes. I would assume that I can get controller values for Kronos' sliders, knobs and switches and assign them to Pro88 controllers... That'd be awesome to have another controller for Kronos on another stand... though I am not to versed in MIDI programming, hopefully I can get some of this working.

Okay - the Novation SL61 MKII is working and powering from the Kronos USB - mapping this thing is a pain - maps fine to the CC's karma etc. but no luck as of yet to control the CX engine sliders etc. =\ as it sends sysex messages as opposed to CC… But this is promising =) and I must add that the key bed feels great =). Any ideas on the CX engine mapping please message me =). Thanks

SHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I grab them up for $200 off of CL all the time, the 7.1's too for not much more.Alesis QX61 works great with the Kronos. Been using it as a top tier live..
Cheapest midi controller out there with aftertouch......hehehehehehe
M3, Radias R, Kurzweil PC3LE, EMU Proteus 1000, EMU Proteus 2000 (three of 'em) EMU Proteus 2500, , Alesis QS6, Alesis QS7.1 (2 of them, 'cause I use them as midi controllers and I prefer their keyboard action), MPK 61, love the buttons / sliders etc but not liking the action. Wavestation A/D. Core i7 PC, 32 GB ram, 500 GB SSD, Presonus Studio One 2 Pro, VST's Pianoteq, Alchemy
Here is a thought, for some of the controllers that didn't work or map properly through usb to the Kronos I wonder if doing as was done in this thread, using the bcr thread, would fix some the compatibility issues. Just a thought.
