Page 295 of the Pa900 On-Line User Manual says the the free Songbook Editor Software can be used to edit songbooks for the Pa900 ...PraiseTheLord wrote:Just had a response from Korg: "At present we do not have a timeline for an updated SongBook editor for Pa900."
Disappointing news.
Who is right? ... this is very confusing, and I don't really want to take a chance that my Pa900 may get 'screwed up' if it doesn't work ! ...

Hi Tony, neither Bill nor I could get it to work. I have not heard from any Pa900 user who has made it work successfully. You saw what Korg said.
Do a simple test. Make a change to a playlist, or create a new playlist, and save it. Copy the songbook file to a usb stick, then to your PC. Open songbook editor, and see if the playlist is there, and whether you can see the change. I could not.
If all is not well you can just delete the file on your PC and no harm to the Pa900.
Let us all know how you get on.

Graham ... I followed your instructions, but I have a question: "How does Songbook Editor know where to look for the files?"
Anyway, I created a custom list and 'Wrote" it ... I then saved it to a USB, put the USB in the PC and opened Songbook Editor ... the page was blank ... I clicked on 'IMPORT' and I got a message that Windows was closing the program ... ???

Tony,
Do you have the extra Micro card installed in your 900?
If so, you can store your Song Book file on it and access it directly from your PC via a USB A to B cable. This method is the first one mentioned in the Owners Manual for the Editor.
I did not work with it as much as Graham and was busy doing other things with my 900.

This is the response I got from 'Max', Product Support Supervisor at KORG :
My sincere apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Which SongBook Editor did you download? Did you use the one for our older products? At present there is not a Pa900 compatible version of the SongBook Editor. If you were using the download for the Pa800, that would explain the incompatibility issues that you ran into.
As they say on TV "BREAKING NEWS:" Before submitting this response I tried the "SAVE" to USB again ... it saved as a .SET file ... on the PC, I opened the file with SongBook Editor (SBE) and this time I actually saw some of my custom lists ... is there a maximum number I can have in SBE ? ... the Main List was in a separate 'partition' on top and then the other 6 factory Song Lists - POP, BALLAD, ROCK, etc. showed, along with 6 of my custom song lists ... If I could get my main custom list to show (it didn't
) I can see where the SBE would be a good tool ...

I don't know Tony, as I said, everything else is limited to the existing places in the keyboard, such as styles, sounds and performances.
You have to save new stuff in one of the old stuff places - so I don't see Korg doing anything out of that methodology - even in the global settings, you have to write your settings into one of the existing slots.
