After years of production and very few improvements, the Electribes are now gone from the Korg website. Might be me just not noticing. Are they discontinued?

Yes
Year after year I hoped before every NAMM or Musikmesse that a successor will be announced. Many people were disappointed by Korg. The Volcas are definitely not a substitute for the Electribes. |

They are still in the support part of Korg.com, search for EA1, EM1 etc. _________________

I might give the electribes a miss. Seems like I was always waiting for some knockout raft of new features to get one. And then there's the whole sampling vs MMT choice when a super electribe could have both. Ah well, nearly great but not quite...

I read a rumour somewhere that they are preparing an analog Electribe based upon Volca. Whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen. The Electribe's demise certainly saddens me as i love mine and the iPad equivalent is both limited and lacks the tactility that makes jamming on it such a joy.
In a way I bemoan the IOS platform's resurgence as it undermines the commercial viability of hardware. Although if course we have seen an upturn in interest for analog so i guess the future is anyone's guess. _________________ fine art website: www.timsartlounge.co.uk

Just curious, what sort of features were you waiting for? I own an ESX and for a sampler/sequencer it's pretty well rounded and the workflow is amazingly well thought through. I reckon that when paired with an EMX there should be few things left to wish for - provided the groovebox paradigm is what you're looking for in the first place.
Each to their own, and just asking out of honest curiosity. |

I'm hoping for parameter locks like an Elektron or the venerable Yamaha AN200. They got so many features with live sequencing right. But also easier sample management and selection. Hundreds of samples on hand...
