|
|
Hi friend's and special Korg Insider's, this is a big " TODO".
I have a PA4X at home, Korg was improved LCD resolution from PA3X.
The big problem is the screen software optimization and the abusive shadow in letter type and rest.
Please see this 2 images with zoom please, and check pixel's arrangement.
The first it's the KORG logo when we turn on PA4.
All Pixels are optimized and very nice readable view and contrast.

Now check PA4X after booting and ready to play:

Wy KORG team don't take a Designer Man to fix it ? If you have more pixels than PA3X wy a poor visualization on PA4X ?
Wy too bad instrument icon's color's and resolution too ?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Korg uses lower resolution screens to save memory and speed up write & update times. _________________ ”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”

This is pretty same as on PA600. When booting, characters are more clear than fully operating. As if they are useing some kind of ClearType. |

When booting they just display a static image so they can output a full-resolution picture then. After boot things get a LOT busier with a real-time dynamic display required. plus during operation you really want to use larger text and screen objects for easiest reading while playing. _________________ ”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”

One of LCD bad optimization it's the letter type choosing, from developer's.
Most type of PA4X letter type are not native recognized to LCD pixel resolution.
They don't need a much more power CPU to be less aggressive the dot's.
Soon is possible to compare a Spectrum Z80 CPU graphics with the PA4X.
This is a very important part of a project development, the visual and graphic.
A can read better a 20 years calculator 7 segment LCD than this last KORG LCD.
The PA4X in my house are not mine, I don't want to downgrade LCD recognition from PA3X to PA4X with this current firmware version.
I have more than 15 friend's waiting my review to choose buy a PA4X. I go wait a time for next firmware upgrade to make review.
The patience time do wait are from KORG team side, to fix this poor graphics.
Thanks

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for KORG to change this. Believe it or not they have been pretty successful at making these arranger keyboards for quite a while now. I think they pretty much know exactly what they are doing. _________________ ”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”

The funny thing is that when you want to upgrade the os (PA600), first thing you have to do is to calibrate the touch, and the interface is pixel perfect.. Then once new os is installed, you have to recalibrate again... And back to 1980s.... |

Sorry Thoraldus, but why they change screen ? There are more cheap LCD's with less resolution. More money save to KORG.
There is a Big TODO ahead, or sales go down, people that buy this keyboard's level don't want a TOY LCD. Actually any Tablet have more CPU power than PA4X. I don't believe this bad optimization of LCD is to save CPU resources.
Only by the right choice off Letter Type Font can make a big change with low CPU usage. Korg don't have time to make it, KORG forces out of PA4X to market without polish software and design. Like automation, bad HMI ( Human Machine INterface ) = Bad usability.
Paolo@Korg are you there ? |

I can not find answer for low-res 7" display from start ( I made a first comment on YouTube naming that display is "Super Mario" resolution like ).... Nonsense in 2015.... We do not want to play games on that lcd panel, but decent resolution is good for the eyes and better handling the keyboard ... This is like using Windows on Full HD monitor without graphic drivers on it,and having 640x480 on eg. 22-24" monitor, you name it . And PA4x is not 500$ ,it is 4000$,so it is not easy to say " it's OK " ... How you people some things take soooo easy??? You're acting like Korg giving us Pa4x for free, and we must be satisfied ???? NO- For that money,we should get the best,or at least some mainstream hardware . Age of low resolution displays are in past century. _________________ KORG Pa4x-76

They can improve by update, the problem it's a big Job to do in just one fast update.
This job should have been done before put PA4X in market, now can be too late.
Now I'm confused, the KORG PA4X DEVELOPMENT TEAM are more musically, more programmation, more electronic, or more design people, more facebook or twitter team ? Or definitive a non user product ?
Thanks |

"...non user product..."
I'm guessing you won't buy one then..... but that's cool.. maybe a Tyros or Audya or BK9 for you?

You are confused indeed and you did a great job with confusing everybody else as well , so you're not alone anymore!
Not too many people could use all these keywords in one or two sentences and still be able to make sense in any language. _________________ Sam
