With the Edit button highlighted, use the Program knob to select various parameters, use the right-most slider to edit the value, and the octave buttons to cycle between Operators 1-6/global parameters. Anyone claiming to know FM synthesis "very well" will know how to look at the algorithm being used and make meaningful adjustments to the right operators, but it takes a lot of focus to jump between operators and make gradual tweaks when you're working with this many interworking parameters.
Also, when you wanna save a synth patch, remember that you're using the "Save" button in the leftmost cluster of controls, rather than the "Write" button to the right; the left set of controls govern the synth engine, the right-side ones handle sequencing. I'm not entirely sure how the attack/decay knobs affect the engine parameters specifically but I use these for fine adjustments/motion sequencing. You have 32 synth patch memories (no way to change your saved slot BTW) and 16 sequence memories.
Hope this helps. |

Yeah i am pretty good at programming analog synths so i figured i would buy a Volca FM since it is modeled after the Yamaha DX7. _________________ Electronix |
