Hi,
I would like to post a quick question about cleaning the Kronos-2. I hate seeing fingerprints on the Panel and Screen. Has anyone used anything to successfully clean the Kronos without scratching or staining it. Please Help.
Thanks

Hi there,
I like my K2 as clean as possible too. I could be wrong, but I avoid any strong stuff at all costs, so for me I simply use a bit of water mixed with a tiny bit of glycerine hand soap put on a microfiber cloth, then gently wash the greasy part, then dry it right away using a dry part of microfiber cloth. The finish then looks brand new again. |

Thanks for the quick reply.
My wife told me that she thought a Baby Wipe would work fine, no chemicals, of course.. And, I used an old Ilford Antistatic cloth from my old Photo days. That combo worked great, My K2 looks brand new again. And the baby wipes dried almost instantly, followed it quickly with the nice smooth anti-static cloth and VOILA! All Clean.. |

I'd be careful about baby wipes. They're likely to have some kind of lotion on them. I use something like these lens-wipes that I bought at Costco.

Water and a soft white t shirt is the best thing to clean the Kronos a damp t-shirt. Overthinking about cleaning a Kronos very simple a damp soft t-shirt and done. No chemicals involved.

I have a variation on the question...
While I find a microfiber cloth works well on the touchscreen, the black surface of the rest of the Kronos gets smudges from fingers / sweat. The microfiber cloth doesn't remove them.
As others have mentioned, I'm hesitant to use chemicals but a dry cloth isn't getting it done. How do the rest of you clean the black surface area? _________________ Studio: Cubase 13 | Windows 10 | Yamaha TF5 | Mackie MCU | CMC AI, QC

See my initial post above, which works both for screen and metal finish. |

Current approach, which has served me well for years, is to first use a large make-up brush, I believe it's called a Kabuki brush (it's the same size as a wet shave brush), to lift the light dust from surfaces, with a vacuum cleaner hose (minus nozzle) held close by to suck the lifted dust away. It's very good for the nooks and crannies at the edges/corners of the screen, under the controls, and the keyboard keys and joysticks. Next, use a highly absorbent cellulose sponge cloth (normally these are around 200mm across, but not quite square, by 5mm thick), thoroughly wet it, add one single drop of ordinary household washing up liquid and mix it into the sponge, then rinse it, squeezing it as you go, until there's almost no soapiness left, then squeeze the sponge as hard as possible to leave it barely damp, and use it on the black metal surface to get rid of finger marks. Prepared this way, the sponge can also be used for the screen without any problems. Any water left by the sponge will form such a thin film that it evaporates almost immediately.
Before using the brush, first check for obvous large deposits of sticky or greasy material, and remove these with the sponge, prepared as above.
