Hi, I got a Microkorg not far back for a pretty decent price, but it may have been stored for a while. Everything seems in working order except for the cut off filter.
Turning the knob seems to do nothing, so I took it apart to have a look myself. I've taken some pictures that I'll post here.

My concern is the little bit of rust on one of the connector pins in picture 2.
I'm experience at soldering but haven't put it into practice on commercial hardware, so I wonder if it's worth getting a replacement and re-soldering the piece. The cutoff filter is a pretty critical knob. I can't re-write my own patches without it. What are my options? Could I potentially ruin the synth by soldering a new piece on?
The part I would need is a Rotary potentiometer.
Any advice would be great.

Hi,
There seems to be plenty of space around the pot. So it should be fine to desolder the old one solder a new one.
Maybe first measure the pot with a multi meter. Removing the old solder and putting new one, may help as well if the pot is still ok according the measurement.
Good luck.

My friend got a secondhand MK without checking on it, and ended up with the same problem. It's an easy replacement job, but finding the part was kinda tough. I recall one synth parts website having it for around $7, then I got it installed within an hour. Just make sure you remember how you got everything apart.
