PA3X still viable?

Post by Musicwithharry »

As most of you know, I am a VERY happy user of the PA700. I love everything about it.

I am considering getting a PA3X units (probably the top of the line unit). Would it be worth it to get one, even though I may have some new stuff on my PA700?

After watching the videos and such on the PA3X, it looks like it does everything that my PA700 does (maybe with the exception of KAOSS, which is something I do not use much anyway).

The PA3X looks like it has extra Insert EFX and such than the PA700 does.

Would the PA3X be something to consider? It is much less expensive than the PA4X and with some talk of a new arranger coming around anyway, I might want to wait to get something brand new and focus on the PA3X instead. My initial course of action was to get another PA700, but I like some of the features on the PA3X that would be great in my studio...

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Grace,
Harry

For me the main consideration of the Pa3X & Pa4X is the excellent very good quality keybed.

+1

PA3X is an excellent keyboard. If you are happy to buy a discontinued model and it is at a good price, then go for it.

The latest PA3X OS version is rock solid.

The only thing I didn't like about mine was the ridiculous battery backup - I didn't bother replacing mine when it expired - the only issue then was putting up with a longer startup time - no big deal.

Personally if my choice was between the PA3X and PA700, I would buy the PA3X in a flash - but you could own BOTH :D

Cheers

Thank you your input, sir :)

The only keyboard I have that isn't discontinued is the PA700 anyway :)

I know that they added a lot of stuff to the PA4X over the 3X, but I feel that the 3X can still get a lot of use. Sure, I would have to make a few compromises with the samples I want to load into the unit, but right now, the only real samples I am using are from Reuben's Yamaha C5 piano samples anyway (in my PA700).

I could get a lot of use from the extra insert EFX and the faders.

Thank you again, sir :)

I would probably go for the 76 key version. I would probably swap out the HDD with an SSD too (I know that can be a chore). I have seen them from around $1000 to about $2500. The PA3X-LE is not an option...
