loading multiple sets

Post by marcos »

HI

what is the best way when loading multiple sets, without the risk of overwriting?
When loading different sets, I'm afraid sounds are overwriting...
any ideas?
Thanks

Problematic of merging sets has been extensively discussed here several times.

For Styles & KbdSets that are not assigned exclusively with sounds of factory resources but also with user sounds AntonySharmman mentioned "Merging 2 or more sets is not an easy workflow that can be explained in a few lines topic ...":

As Sibenhirter stated it is problematic.

I found that some Style sets would install from used 1 bank 1 without asking whilst other would ask where.

To get round it:-

Install style pack to user 1 bank 2 then copy and paste each one to a location further in the memory, this is imo no bad thing as it lets you place each of them in a created user category ie pop, ballroom, rock etc

Delete the source styles

Create a Save All file

Then install the next Style pack to User 1 Bank 1 and repeat.

Merging Sets with user sounds / user DKs

Post by siebenhirter »

Hello,
when loading a style or kbdset from a set, none of its user sound and samples is loadet automatically and thus causes errors.

If there are user sounds/user dks in a set, methods as described by Anthony are necessary (--> http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... p?t=111124 ).

With user sounds/dks is necessary to open every sound bank separately< (SETx.ALL/open/SOUND/open) click on USERx bank and load existing user sounds and user dks partially one by one.

That automatically will load the required PCM samples without to overwrite existing user sounds in memory. After that load style banks and kbd set banks. Then remap user-sounds/dks in its tracks to memory-locations of automatically created user sounds/dks with the above procedure.

If there are no user sounds/user dks in a set, it is ok to install resource packs without to open / load sound banks separately as recommended.
kind regards

thanks for your reply.

so is it correct to assume the sequence is to load the sounds first? then styles?

all the other folders can be ignored? like the PCM, etc

yes --> http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 871#740871

For remapping user-sounds/-DKs of styles tracks the SAMPLES associated with the usersounds are NOT to notify, because loading user-sounds/DKs (the fundamental prerequisite before loading musical resources of a set) automatically writes and organize sounds/DKs with its multisamples (KMP) und its samples (PCM) into memory. For remapping only the link to soundlocation in soundbank (...pcg) is to notify.

In most simple case you get a set with styles in any user-style-bank and (maybe for example) with user-sounds in user04.pcg and userDK02.pcg. If user04.pcg and userDK02.pcg of your arranger are still free and not occupied with other data NOTHING IS TO NOTIFY OR TO REMAP, if you load sound banks user04.pcg and userDK02.pcg of the set to same location of your arrangers memory, before you load styles or style-banks.

That is because in example above links in the new set (maybe saved on an USB stick) of user-sounds / -DKs refers to user-sounds of user04.pcg and userDK02.pcg of the USB stick. If you first loaded banks user04.pcg and userDK02.pcg to same (free) banks of your arrangers memory, user sounds and DKs are located to same user banks as of USB-stick. So loaded resources (styles, kbdsets etc) are linked to same correct locations in memory; without to be remapped for styles tracks.

PS: On my opinion with some few user-sounds/-DKs that is much more efficient for a hobby keyboard player as to use expansive software for saving different sets beforehand on the PC, to organize them there and to save them to be able to load the result as a new set into the arranger.
