Hi there, I have the original kronos, and SST is a huge deal for me. Does anyone know if SST is better on the kronos 2 or the nautilus?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Korg Triton 76, Korg Triton 61, Korg Triton Extreme 76 + Moss, Korg Triton Extreme 61, Korg M3 + Radias, Korg Kronos 73, Alesis Ion, T.C.Electronic effects & SPL processors. Edirol M16DX. Mackbook Pro & Logic pro X. |

IMHO, keep your Kronos. The Nautilus exists since a short time and already there have been quite a few reports about sound cutoff problems apparently caused by the SSD. Even though the SSD on the Kronos is nothing to write home about in terms of superior quality, the brand of the stock SSD installed in Nautilus units is far from having optimal specs either.
Also, in a video showing the Nautilus inner parts, its tiny SSD is hiding under the MB with little space for ventilation. Compared to 2,5'' devices (such as in the Kronos), those tiny SSD get hot much faster and more easily. And as they get hot, they slow down when their heat protection kicks in. Finally, according to comments from users, the percentage of unused space on the stock Nautilus SSD is small, another fact that can affect performance. |

Compared to the earlier Kronos versions, the K2 has more samples, programs and combis (a Korg upgrade kit is available on their shop site to update K1 et KX units). Also, there are a few hardware improvements in the K2, such as additional aluminum plates inside for a stronger structure, better ventilation for the inner components, etc. |

The original Kronos (2011) had 2GB of RAM installed, whilst from the Kronos X onwards, there are 4GB of RAM, of which 3GB are available. This means that the original Kronos had about 1GB available as PCM RAM, whilst the Kronos X onwards has up to 2GB available for PCM RAM. This can have an impact on the ability to maintain SST, though it will depend on the complexity of the Program/Combi in use before and after switching sounds. SST generally works extremely well.
