Player 1 and player 2 in Style play mode
Does anyone know why in the style play mode, I can load an mp3 file in player 1 or 2, but I can't play them ?. How I should proceed?

You can preload an MP3 whilst in STYLE PLAY mode in preparation for your next song. This is a useful performance feature. It wouldn't make sense to play an MP3 whilst playing a style. What sense does to have in the style play mode we can load an mp3 file but not play it?
Cheers

Dear Pete, this is a long time a go discussion. I understand that korg user hardly understand the point of having a single mode where to play whatever you have on your arranger. I own both a pa2x and a Yamaha psr. In the latter I can start a song, maybe play in real time on top of it, and at a certain point start a style that goes in synch with the song tempo, then stop the song and continue with the style alone.
You may ask: what for?
1st: great tool to matching a style to a song cause you hear both playing together
2nd: great way to practice with different arrangements, quickly and automatically have right tempo of the style for that song
3rd: works a bit like launching samples if you want, short bits of songs embedded in your style...
I use it a lot, but when I wrote to korg Italy, they really could not understand my point.
Hope it helps.... Simone

Hey Pete,
I think I have to disagree with you on this one.
Being able to play an MP3 while in Style play would be awesome.
I have lots of sound effect MP3’s (such as rolling thunder, waterfall, gurgling brook, kookaburra laugh, mechanical noises, voice effects and 100’s of others) which would be great when used judicially with certain songs.
Converting these to Pad Hits is too complex for me.

Hi guys,
This is my story,
Sometimes I use some long recorded Tabla Drums which I play myself using my Pa1000 line in connected to an external audio player while I mute the original drum and percussion tracks of the style so the recorded Tabla loops work well with the rest of the style tracks ( of course with the correct matching Tempo ) , I think if we could play mp3 files in style play mode , I wouldn't need an external audio player.
Thanks for reading !

I am a full time live performer and I really need this option (playing Audio or Mp3 and Styles in synchronization with transposition ability for matching the keys of both Audio and Styles).
It's very demanding from my different singers but unfortunately it is not possible with Korg Arrangers.
Time changed and new featured are demanding. This is how some music business work.

So, you need the ability to play MP3s fully synchronised with style playing - thanks for explaining.
Unless playing MP3s sounds randomly, this would mean that your MP3s would have to be created from "fixed tempo" recordings (e.g. from MIDI/styles/drum machines etc..) in order to successfully synchronise and also have required structure in order for the PA4X to control it.
Interesting feature.
My band has one number only where this could be partially useful but it is mainly to play a short MP3 intro and it is not tempo locked so I have to start (Press Start) at the end of the MP3 appropriately. Would be nice to use the pads to do this like on Casio's MZ-X500.

Hi Friends:
Another way is convert MP3 to wav, and then import the wav to multisamples.- This way you can trigger that specific sound using your pads.-
It's a simple process and i recomended for up to 32 bar.-
With regards.

32 bars are not enough for longer section and beside that when we transpose to different key the imported wave or Mp3 slow down or speed up and does not sound musically nice.
Thanks anyway for your suggestion.

I can understand that you may want the playing of mp3 files, changing tempo, and changing transposition, and being in sync with the style playing.
You can do all that by a DAW and could let the DAW sync the Pa4X. Apples MainStage set lists communicating with Logic ProX and the Pa4X could do it.
However if you had not prepared for it. The analysis of the tempos takes several seconds and may need tweaking of parameters to get it to follow the tempo well on some tricky tracks. Same for transposition, you would select between algorithms and choose the one that gave the best results. I would be very surprised that one could get that to function satisfactory on the fly on a Pa keyboard, but you say that it works on other keyboard brands?
peace

I am having exactly the same situation with PA-1000. In my case, I receive the guitarist solos on a stick and play my part on the keys. I use a separate mp3-player, but achieving perfect timing is a lost battle... I 'd love to have the ability to play with full chords and drums. Unfortunately, I can only play the mp3 on Song-play mode with bare piano (no chords, no drums...
). Maybe Korg could do something about it, that is if there are no hardware restrictions...
