EC5, again
Hi
Is there any update on how to connect a replacement for the EC5. I need foot control for: Fill, variation Up/Down,- Lyrics page Up,-Vocal Harm. On/OFF. Is there Midi information for this in the PA5X? Thanks!

Hey Skude
No good news I'm afraid.
Unless Korg come up with a MIDI solution and MIDI details for us (been asking for this for many years), there is no solution.
You can use a MIDI pedal like Behringer FCB1010 for any MIDI CCs (per the User manual) but several functions that can be controlled with EC5 like VAR-UP, VAR-DOWN cannot be activated via MIDI.
Korg need to change the OS so that these functions can have CC values and be controlled via MIDI pedals.
Korg's decision to exclude EC5 (and have no replacement) is yet another thoughtless part of the design.
Cheers
Pete

Hi,
It's funny Pete, but I agree with the last line of your Post completely.
Going back around 12 years ago, I took early retirement and spent a couple of years planning and building the house where I now live in London, U.K.
I was able to customise the build to suit our family requirements and put Polk ceiling speakers in all rooms connected to Sonos Amps which were controlled by Sonos Remotes. It cost me quite a lot of money but felt it was worth it. Fast forward quite a few years and Sonos changed their strategy, brought out new models that effectively made my system redundant. They introduced a software update and effectively bricked all my remotes. From that date onwards, I decided I would never, ever spend money on Sonos products which I have stuck to rigidly. When in conversation with people regarding audio and hi-fi equipment I do everything in my power to dissuade them from buying Sonos. I actually could not tell you on this Forum what I honestly thought about Sonos as I would surely be banned for my choice of language !!

Sorry, that’s news to me. Better disconnect my paas from PA5x, since according to you it doesn’t work with PA5x. Hmm , wonder where my sound is coming from.

Quote:
Hardware Options
Q: Will there be a replacement for the EC5 foot switch?
A: The EC5 footswitch has been negatively affected by the component shortages affecting so many industries around the world. We have to redesign it using alternative components but still delivering the same controls. Unfortunately, the production date is still uncertain.
Q: When will PaAS be available?
A: The PaAs has been negatively affected by the component shortages affecting so many industries around the world. We have to redesign it using alternative components but still delivering the same high-quality sound. We are targeting availability in late 2023.

No need for a smart-arse answer - READ the post, it was what Korg Australia told me...and without having one how am I to know if that is true or not?rikkisbears wrote:pax-eterna.1 wrote:And no Songbook Editor and no PaAS replacement (been told by Korg Oz that the PaAs is discontinued, won't work with the PA5 anyway and there is a new model being released, sometime whenever!)

Hmm, at Korg's FAQ page they don't mention discontinued.pax-eterna.1 wrote:...been told by Korg Oz that the PaAs is discontinued, won't work with the PA5 anyway and there is a new model being released, sometime whenever!)

And,
the Paas speakerset is compatible. It connects just as at i.e. Pa4X and works flawlessy at my Pa5X-76, believe it or not.

Cheers

And all that is good to know, as I wrote above I was just passing on what I was told.Gunnar J wrote:Hmm, at Korg's FAQ page they don't mention discontinued.pax-eterna.1 wrote:...been told by Korg Oz that the PaAs is discontinued, won't work with the PA5 anyway and there is a new model being released, sometime whenever!)![]()

Re it working, we'll never know (assuming one doesn't have one already) as Korg Australia also said no more in stock and it's not being made in it's current config, whatever that means...
EC5, again
Hi
It is sad that Korg chose to take away the EC5. They should at least have midi info for the functions that are missing. I don't think I can manage without a foot controller, I'm so used to it. Then I'll probably continue with my PA4X until Korg comes up with a solution for this. Thanks!

Problem is that there is no Korg Oz - they are just a distributor (CMI) and generally distributors have no more idea than a retailer.pax-eterna.1 wrote:No need for a smart-arse answer - READ the post, it was what Korg Australia told me...and without having one how am I to know if that is true or not?
We all await Korg to comment - not retailers and distributors so, respectfully, do not be mislead by this.

Well, that’s a worry if they are handing out misinformation.pax-eterna.1 wrote:No need for a smart-arse answer - READ the post, it was what Korg Australia told me...and without having one how am I to know if that is true or not?rikkisbears wrote:pax-eterna.1 wrote:And no Songbook Editor and no PaAS replacement (been told by Korg Oz that the PaAs is discontinued, won't work with the PA5 anyway and there is a new model being released, sometime whenever!)

Wouldn’t like to be told my paas isn’t going to work with my newPA5x, so it gets sold along with my Pa4x, only to find out when I open up the PA5x manual, page 7 settings for Paas.
best wishes

Although I do wonder at the skill and knowledge level of employees on the help desks these days...not the first company I've been given duff info from!

Know what you mean,. Years ago, I used to be on the Help line for one of the Sydney music stores, if I wasn’t sure, I’d ring around and make sure I got a correct answer, rather than hand out misinformation.pax-eterna.1 wrote:Yes indeed!rikkisbears wrote:Well, that’s a worry if they are handing out misinformation.pax-eterna.1 wrote: No need for a smart-arse answer - READ the post, it was what Korg Australia told me...and without having one how am I to know if that is true or not?
