Critical Bug in KBD SET interface with custom Stereo Sounds
Pete , create a sticky OS v1.21 bugs report
A new very weird bug was discovered when a SOUND with user stereo samples is inserted in KBD Set interface.
I created a real stereo piano SOUND with imported stereo samples , in SOUND mode this stereo piano had the normal polyphony of
over 128 notes but when was used in any Upper slot of KBD SET interface , this piano had a polyphony lower than 32 notes !!!
I tried the real stereo factory piano Austrian Grand in KBD SET and it worked fine , but when replaced with mine polyphony is dramatically reduced.
- I tried to investigate KBD SET settings and nothing found and even when in factory pianos KBD SET I replace factory with mine the same happens.
- In SOUND mode both Austrian Grand and my piano are working fine with nominal polyphony so this bug concerns only custom stereo samples.
- The same custom piano that was created with normal stereo pair multisamples , works fine in any KBD SET.
- The same happens with uncompressed stereo samples in OS v.1.2 and in OS v.1.21 with compressed & uncompressed samples.
The destiny of Pa5X seems that was written to be unable to handle real user stereo samples feature ... what a shame !
Hope to be addressed soon

There is no real stereo format in any other Korg arranger , Pa4X supports pair stereo format with 2 multisamples -L/-R and
those multisamples can be loaded with no issues in Pa5X and will work fine as in Pa4X , the problem in Pa5X is the manually
imported samples that is the only way to import and create real stereo samples in Pa5X with 160 notes polyphony.
Those real stereo samples are loosing L channel in SOUND mode only if OSC single trigger box is checked (another bug).
The latest bug that was discovered is the above ...

Hello Antony,
is there an explanation available somewhere on how I can ultimately import stereo multisamples into Pa5x?
Short explanation: for example I convert a stereo multisample in "sts" format to "kmp" via Awavestudio, I then have the "kmp" file and the samples ...Left and ...Right.
when loading into Pa5x I only see en hear the Left samples!

kmp files are always mono, so you have to load the left and right kmp as separate samples.Yamko wrote:Hello Antony,

if you want to use stereo samples, then antony is right you have to import them manually and set the zones manually in the multisample.

As Qui wrote , KSF file is a monophonic audio file and KMP is the multi-sample container of those samples.Yamko wrote:I convert a stereo multisample in "sts" format to "kmp" via Awavestudio, I then have the "kmp" file and the
samples ...Left and ...Right.

If for instance , a stereo SF2 is imported in Awave Studio , it can export in Korg format 2 KMP files SOUND000.KMP & SOUND001.KMP with
the relevant folders of KSF mono samples , so you import both KMP files that represent Left & Right channels Multi-samples respectively
in any PaSeries then you create a SOUND , you create 2 OSC one for SOUND000 and 2nd for SOUND001 , and set pan to +63 and -63 respectively.
(nothing to do with Awave Studio Asena)
This import procedure of KMP / SF2 files do not create real stereo samples in Pa5X but pair stereo samples as in Pa4X.
The only way to create real stereo samples in Pa5X at the moment is to import stereo Wav files , save one by one , create manually one
stereo Multi-sample , use it in a SOUND as a single OSC and gain the real stereo polyphony of 160 notes as factory new sounds.
But as you can read there are a lot of bugs for working properly as factory stereo Multi-sample.
Hope this helps

Hello Qui,
thank you for your response as well as Antony!!
Just like you with Korg, I am very familiar with Wersi OAS for which I have made many sounds in the past, as well as Genos.
Allow me to say that the sampling event in Pa4-5x is unclear!
I've worked with several samplers in the past where such things are more apparent.
Also in the PA manuals there is nothing to be found about loading "stereo samples", which is not unimportant!!
I spoke to the Belgian Korg demonstrator about this and he doesn't know immediately either!

I have briefly explained of how to do both in above topic.
Importing ready MS in PaSeries is a piece of cake , SOUND editing knowledge is the 90% of success and all are explained in advanced edit manuals.

I didn't even say anything about WavesArt. I just wanted you to check what you wrote above, is it correct or not?
Antony, do you create stereo or mono samples?AntonySharmman wrote:This import procedure of KMP / SF2 files do not create real stereo samples in Pa5X but pair stereo samples as in Pa4X.Yamko wrote:I convert a stereo multisample in "sts" format to "kmp" via Awavestudio, I then have the "kmp" file and the

If you mean about WavesArt libraries , since 15 years always stereo SOUNDs but with stereo pair format imported from
Kontakt sampler where I primary develop them.
This was always the supported Korg format for PaSeries & OASYS/Kronos , Pa5X was supposed to support real stereo OSC
multisamples but not really ready to work without serious issues like polyphony in KBD SET , so I have retired everything I had
made in this format until all will be fixed to work properly.
Concerning drum samples in DK interface , since Pa800 age , when a stereo wav file was imported and saved , 2 multisamples
were created as -L & -R and when imported in DK sound this sound was automatically paired as stereo , but polyphony
was 2 notes per stereo Sound.

It depends of my needs , normally I sample ambient drums with 11 microphones so I create 11 channels 24bit wav samples with Pro Toolsscrudigi wrote: ... do you create stereo or mono samples?
Pianos are sampled with 5 microphones and use 5 channels wav files , Kontakt and software samplers that I develop with can handle any kind
of such files , and those prototypes audio files are accordingly mixed and converted to stereo channels to best format that Korg keyboards support.
Electric guitars on the other hand are sampled in mono format and then FX will define the stereo-phony as in real world.
I have the equipment to create whatever kind of samples you can ever imagine !
If you have the required knowledge in sampling , create a similar stereo piano of 2 GB in Pa5X as I did and find out the bugs yourself ...
Else trust experts !

AntonySharmman,
- Was this an issue with previous Pa Series models - i.e. Pa4x?
Was this an issue with the original release Pa5x version or did this only become an issue with with a subsequent update 1.2.0 and/or 1.2.1?
If I purchase quality custom styles and/or sounds from a third-party that were created and sounded amazing on a Pa4x and are converted for Pa5x, will this now causse an issue? Should this be an issue, what are the step by step workaround?
