What am i missing?
Hello all, i am new to this forum, and new to korg as well... i'm trying to do something simple, but having a lot of difficulty... i wanted to try layering programs using C bank Combi 127 "Init. Combination"... For starters, i wanted to pick a drum kit and set it up with the arpeggiator... so i picked "A020 Standard Kit 3" i assigned it to arpeggiator A, and checked the "Arpeggiator run" A box .... then i picked a pattern U108 Dr-Straight. i also checked the "latch" box, so that the pattern would continue playing after releasing the keys. So... it was working ok so far, i turned the Arp On/Off key on, hit a key.. it played the pattern. But here's the problem, i didn't want the individual keys to play the drum sounds when i turned the Arp on/off key off... so i assigned the drum program to MIDI channel 2... After changing the MIDI channel from "Gch" to "02"... i hear nothing, the pattern doesn't play anymore
what am i missing? please help... -A.S. ( using TR-88 )

Hiya happy chatters!
This question is worthy of a tutorial because it's not a simple task, and many people simply would not know how to do this.
So, leave it with me for a few hours and I will put something together. I have a new video camera I've been wanting to try, so this will be a good opportunity.
The tutorial will be on a Triton Studio, but the exact same rules apply. You will be able to adapt it all to your TR
Regards,
Sharp.

There's a formula for this that Korg uses. It's mentioned briefly in the manual. It has to do mainly with the Arpeggiator settings and the MIDI channel settings.
It's used on many combinations. Once you turn off the Arp, the individual drums do not sound.
I believe that's what you're looking for.
But as Sharp said, setting it up is not a simple task.
Sharp has some good tutorials. He'll get back to you.

i think you have to have a sound in the Gch set to trigger the arpeggio, but have the volume turned off, and then have the same arpeggio set to trigger the drums.
Gch- piano- volume set to zero or off, set to trigger arp A
Ch 2- drums- volume set to liking- set to trigger, or be triggered by arp A
Gch- anything else you want to play, set volume to liking, set to trigger arp B or off
Does that make sense?

Another variation.
It's practically the same as the above example.
Starting with an initialized combination.
1. Place a drum kit on Track 01.
2. Go to the midi channel tab and set the following.
Track 01......Midi channel 02..........Status INT
Track 02......Midi channel Gch........Status OFF
3. Go to the Arp. setup tab and set Track 01 and 2 to the same arpeggiator.
To get subsequent tracks to sound, change their midi channel numbers to 01G or Gch.
