Orinoco Flow Patch - Download here.

Post by Sharp »

Hi Guys.

I made the main sound for Orinoco Flow and you can hear a demo of the Patch here.
http://www.irishacts.com/misc/orinoco-flow-v2.mp3

And you can download the actual sound / samples here. It's in both OASYS and M3 format.

http://www.korgforums.com/support/oasys/orinoco.zip

Enjoy

Very cool. Always liked that song.

Did you sample a D50 for that? Sounds just like the original patch.

Well,.... :-) I kind of have to go against what has been said regarding the D-50 and the Pizzagogo patch. Searching the net it seems everyone says that Enya used that factory preset, but yet when you actually sit down and compare it against the song, it's not the same sound at all.

At this stage I believe she did use is as a basis for the sound, but she clearly layered in more sounds to give it that sparkle it has in the upper registers, and depth in has in the lower registers. It's a much more complicated sound than I ever imagined.

I had access to the Pizzagogo from the D-50 but in the end I didn't use it as the basis of the sound because the samples sounded too stretched in the lower registers. I wanted to emulate the sound, but have it crystal clear.

So this is what I did.......
I used the D-50 samples as a reference point and worked on shaping the KORG pizzicato assemble and pizzicato multisamples mixed together to get them sounding like the D-50 samples and I created two identical program sound from this work. The only difference between them was one was transposed up an octave.

Then I cleaned up USER-B 057 Trancy Pizz Shot a bit by making it more natural, and like above I created two progarms from this, one up an octave.

Then I made a very clear Kimbala sound and took this sound and the other 4 programs into COMBI mode and layered them altogether. Messed around with effects, EQ, & volume until I was happy I had that Enya sound.

Finally to finish up I simply resampled the COMBI and make a single program sound out of it and the samples generated from the resampling. Took the freaking entire day to do all that :-)

Regards.
Sharp.

So in short you used no external samples to create the combi, am I right?

Can you make the combi available so we can use it on our M50s?

Whoops...made a tiny mistake in that upload guys. I assigned the wrong sample to C6.
If you have downloaded the files, download them again as the fixed version is now up in it's place.

Kind Regards
