OASYS not loading, freezing at:...Now finishing up...
After a sysex command in Karma Oasys software, sending one combi I edited, i saw at the Oasys screen the message: Receiving sysex...It took more then 10 minutes, so I switched the Oasys off and after 10 sec on again.
Loading seemed fine but....the screen keeps hanging at the final message, knobs are lightning, the sliders are not : "Now finishing up....."
I unplugged everything but it doesn't matter how many times I switch it on and off....
OS: 1.3.3, 2 GB RAM and all the EXi.
Any suggestions what I can do??

My Oasys still freezes at the opening screen at ' Now finishing up...'
Any other things I could tryout? Any help would be appreciated…..

If you haven't already done it - post over at www.karma-lab.com
If this is a bug in KO Software, Stephen Kay will be your best bet for help - and - it may affect all KO owners.
Good luck!
Kevin.

And your sure there's nothing connected to the USB ports as this can effect the installation ?
Regards
Sharp.
PS: If it were me, this is something I wouldn't be waiting for an answer to on the fourms. I'd be on the phone talking to KORG direct.

What midi interface are you using. Some may have issues when sending sysex. For example I used to have a Steinberg Midex 8 which worked ok except for sysex to OASYS. There was a driver or firmware update that addressed the issue but it never worked brilliantly. Now using Edirol UM-880 and they seem to handle sysex fine.
Just thought it might be worth mentioning on the off chance

I am using a very simple Xmidi 1X1 from EMu.
Stephen Kay advised to boot up while pressing ENTER+0, but unfortunately it didn't work out. I contact the dealer but the right guy didn't phone/mail me, I will try again tomorrow...
Thnaks.

Arend, have you tried putting your OS 1.1 disc #1 in? I did this for a friend's OASYS, because it kept locking up on startup and it got it back to normal. You don't want to update the OS, nor Format. Instead, select one of the other two options:
It should clear out the Global PCG data, like User GEs that might be hanging up your OASYS. As long as you backed up any unique programs (your own creations), you should be fine.
Check pages 1096-1097 in the E5 Parameter Guide Pdf.
Hopefully, that will help you, otherwise, let us know what Korg or Stephen says.
[ ] Restore factory sounds
[ ] Initialize Internal Memory

Hello Mike,
I haven't tried this solution. I will try it out when I am back home tonight. Thanks for the advise. I do have back ups, more then one of all my data..
Hard times not be able to play the Oasys while it is right in front of me. Right now I am using the red karma. Not bad at all, but.....you can't compare it to the big O......
I let you know how things are working out.

Mike.....THANKS A LOT
I followed the steps you mentioned and I am 'up and running again'. I chose cd 1 'restore factory sounds'.
I discovered the corrupted combi which I send from KO software into the Oasys in my own combi bank int D. When I selected this combi the O freezes, but I could start up again. I did load my own sounds and now everything is running.
I am a happy guy. I was afraid I had major problems with the O and unfortunately the service from my local KORG dealer was not good, they did not respond as they promised.
But..... this forum is a live and kicking....I love the O even more now I know how it feels to live without it/her.......
Thanks Mike.

I was thinking if it isn´t worth to start a new threat like the topics "sticky" above with all that solutions and experience what to do if the OASYS freezes, reauthorisation etc to have a compact information. It would help forum members to find a solution and help live gigging people to create a "rescue set" - what to take with you on tour. After reading this topic I won´t leave without the disc 1#1 just in case ..
So what do you think?
Regards Soulbe
