Sound lags behind combi change

Post by mididiot »

I've had the Triton Classic, Studio, and Extreme and this is the only Korg I've had where there is a long delay before the new combi is ready to play. Long delay is 3 seconds. I use alot of left hand bass splits. I know there is a work around, by putting a bunch of patches on one combi and muting and un-muting, but why should you have to do that. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I complained about this also, it does seem to be an extraordinary amount of time for combi changes, especially when radias exp. is used. THere is a GREAT solution to this by using the karma scene buttons to switch between programs or combi/programs without any cutoff of sound. THe only real drawback is the effects must stay the same, which if found to not be a real problem. THere's plenty of insert EFX and master EFX to go around. Go to Stephen Kay's website and read the wiki article on smooth program/combi changes. I can't imagine using the M3 live without this feature considering the slow combi/program patch changes.

Another alternative is to use SEQ mode and use control data via sysex. This does not involve Karma and much easier to setup.

Stesco BigPack

Post by Rockitman »

Dan Stesco's Big pack of sounds (located on Karma lab site in M3 sound files) has an example where Dan sets up a combi with an instant program switch using the SW1, SW2 buttons. I am not sure if he used mutes, but it works great, and you can take his combi and just change the programs/effects in it. I do not recall the combi name, but it has a name like quick program change or something....

When I disabled the Karma & Drum track program change options. It sped right up. Thanks for all of your great tips and suggestions. The Karma lab is a great resource for M3 owners.

He does it in combi 027:LIVE quick switch<SW1>

It's done with the ST. Graphic 7EQ effect. Timbre's 4,5,6 are routed to IFX5 where SW1 is used to set the wet/dry amount to +100.
