Restore factory patches and samples to ES-1

Post by revi »

Hello,

I recently picked up an ES-1 and would like to restore the factory samples and patterns. I realize I need to pick up a (3.3v) SmartMedia card to restore the samples but I was wondering if there is a location where I could download the files (to then be transferred to the SmartMedia card).

Additionally, can the patterns be restored using an "initialization procedure" on the ES-1?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Thank you!

I've got the download and I'll go and pick up a SmartMedia card...can the ES-1 use a 128MB card (which appear more common) or is 64MB the largest capacity card it can recognize?

I noticed that in the zip there's one file called 9.es1...is this the file mentioned on page 55 of the owner's manual? I picked it up from this location (which I wish had the file you so kindly pointed me toward ;-)

...also, is this the procedure to follow?

Loading all data from SmartMedia to the ES-1 (All Load)

Here’s how to load all ES-1 Pattern data, Song data, Sample
data, and Global data from SmartMedia.

1. Insert the SmartMedia into the SmartMedia slot.
2. Hold down the shift key and press step key 15 (Card).
3. The display will indicate “Lod.” Press key 15.
4. The display will show a file number. Use the dial to select a file number 1—9 (file “[E]” is not an ES-1 file, so do not select it here), and then press key 15.
5. The display will indicate “ALL.” Press Write key to execute the Load operation. (Key 15 will light, and the Write key will blink.) The loading progress will be shown by the step keys (the Write key will light.) When loading is finished, the ES-1 will enter Pattern mode with A01 selected.
If you decide to cancel the procedure, use the mode keys to move to Pattern mode, Song mode, or Sample mode.

Again, thank you VERY much for your assistance!

Yes, it should be

Yes, I think so. You'd need to turn the dial to show 9 to load 9.es1

Hello,

I'll get a 64MB card and will post my results later!

Again, thank you very much for your assistance, I had been searching for quite some time for this file!

Best regards,

This is a very old thread, but I just picked up an ES-1 mkii off a dude who demolished the samples and demo tunes.

I am curious, revi, if you're still listening, did this procedure work for you?

I have yet to pick up a smartmedia card off ebay, but will be shortly.

I'm hoping to restore everything to factory. Then I'll do the demolishing myself :)

Thanks,

Matt
